“Should I?” I ask, confused.

They all smirk as a few women walk out and begin to introduce themselves.

Chapter 19

Mafia who?

Jake

Keir is married to Sailor, who just so happens to be the nicest woman I have ever met. She has to be to put up with Keir. Keir’s brother, Joey, is married to Adora, who owns a small bookstore he bought for her. I know Adora the best out of all the women, thanks to our time in Italy together, when I brought her back to Joey. And Chanel, who is a flight attendant, is with Lucas, the craziest one of the lot. And then we have Piper, who is a badass bitch. All four of them usually go everywhere together, and their women are close-knit. Sailor starts talking to Oriana as she stays glued to my side, her hand in mine, not letting go.

“I can steal you away, can’t I? This is the most people Keir has invited into our home, and I’m so excited to make new friends and learn all about the rock star life,” she says to Oriana, who tenses. Sailor must notice because she adds, “I mean, what life was like for you, not him.” She brushes it off, and Oriana looks at me.

I know all eyes are on us.

“I’ll be back,” she says.

I lean down and whisper in her ear, “Don’t go far. The front seat of a Porsche is waiting for us.” Her cheeks go crimson before she looks down and follows Sailor.

“She has no idea who we are?” Lucas says, laughing as she steps away. “I like it. How on earth could she not know?” He shakes his head, still laughing. “Even that dipshit of a husband knows.”

“Do you plan to keep her?” Keir asks.

“No.” Their gazes all fix on me as Joey offers me a drink. I take it as I glance around. There’s Keir’s mother and Lucas’s mother in the other room, and they are entertaining all the kids.

“So quick to answer.” Lucas whistles.

“Your brother is shopping around,” Keir adds. “It’s making me anxious. If I were you, I would warn him I don’t like people sticking their noses where they’re not wanted. And that’s the only warning I will give.”

I haven’t seen or heard from my brother for over ten years.

Keir’s name is called, and Sailor walks in.

“Come, everything’s ready out back.” Keir takes her hand and leads the way, and we all follow to the outdoor area, which is glowing with fairy lights, a small bar, a table full of food, and soft music playing. I spot Oriana straight away, talking to Adora. She smiles at something Adora says before she looks up and catches me staring at her.

I’m not going to lie. My plan has been, and always will be, to just fuck her. I mean, look at her. Who the fuck wouldn’t? Her husband’s loss, letting someone like Oriana walk out of his life, only to realize too late what he lost and try to get her back.

I watch as she finishes her conversation with Adora, excuses herself, then makes her way toward me. Her long legs eat up the distance between us, the curves of her body hypnotizing me with every step she takes. When she comes to a stop in front of me, she tilts her face up and smiles, and I hate that I like it so much.

“These are your friends?” she asks, looking over her shoulder.

“Not really,” I answer.

“Jake, Jake, Jake… That hurt, right in the heart,” Joey jokes as he walks past us. He winks at Oriana as he continues on.

“Kind of,” I amend.

“Thank you for inviting me.”

I slide my hands into my pockets to keep from touching her. “I had to bring a date, and since our time got cut short last time…”

“Yeah.” She pushes her hair behind her ear, and her voice drops down to a whisper as she says, “Casual sex. Is that what we are?”

“Do you wish to discuss this here?” She glances over her shoulder before looking back at me.

“I guess not.” She shrugs, her lips pursed. “I like the women. They all seem nice.”

“They are, despite their partners.”

“I can still hear you,” Joey yells. “Oriana, why don’t you come over here and tell us how you met our Jake.”

Raising a brow, I shake my head at him, then give Oriana a slight nod and walk over with her. Lucas has Chanel on his lap, and his hand strokes her shoulder. Keir is being forced to dance with Sailor, which is quite funny, considering he is just standing there with his hands on her hips as she sways.

“Take a seat,” Lucas says, pointing to a chair. Oriana hesitates a moment, then does just that. Chanel leans over and hands her a drink,

“How Jake and I met…” Oriana starts, turning her head and finding my eyes as I stand behind her. I say nothing as she looks back to Joey. “He saved me one night. I didn’t really know who he was then, but I saw him again at a gala, and well, here we are,” she says simply.
