He locked me in a tower, but seven dangerous men are about to set me on fire.

For years, I lived in a gilded cage—a penthouse built of lies.

Groomed. Controlled. Owned.

My stepfather thought obedience was bred into my bones.

He should’ve fire only needs a spark.

They came like shadows in the night.

Seven men with blood on their hands and darkness in their eyes.

Barbieri and his crew didn’t rescue me—they kidnapped me.

But somewhere between the threats and the hard stares…

I started to breathe again.

Their leader watches me with cold calculation, seeing both weapon and weakness.

Hands that kill touch me with unexpected gentleness.

Eyes that have witnessed horrors linger on my skin.

Their whispers promise vengeance.

Their touches promise something else entirely.

They were only supposed to use me as leverage.

Now, they’re the only ones who make me feel free.

But when a secret I didn’t plan threatens everything we’ve built…

Who will be left standing in the ashes?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

PROLOGUE

PEARL

I woke up but kept my eyes closed. Something's wrong.

The sensation of restraints on my wrists and ankles made my heart race. Panic flickered in my chest as I tugged against the restraints, the chill of the metal sinking deeper into my skin.

How long had they kept me unconscious? Hours? Days?

The last clear memory I had was of that fire alarm in my building, strange men appearing like ghosts in my hallway. Then the helicopter ride into darkness, my world narrowed to sound and touch and fear.

I didn't want to open my eyes. But curiosity and fear battled within me, and I knew I had to look.

Slowly, I raised my eyelids, and I immediately regretted it.

The room I was in was dark, almost pitch black. I could make out a gray steel table in front of the chair I was bound to, and a very wide mirror on the wall behind it that was obviously also a viewing window for whoever was behind that. There was a door to the left, and I took strange comfort in that fact. If this is hell, at least it's got an exit.

Even in the dim light, I could make out my reflection in the window. My appearance was immaculate as always—perfect makeup and long blonde hair flowing just so. It was exactly how my stepfather demanded I look at all times. But his rules were the least of my problems now.

For a brief moment, I felt relieved to see no visible injuries, but then I nearly burst into tears as the gravity of my situation sank in. The adrenaline that had carried me through the kidnapping was fading, leaving behind a strange clarity.

Where was I? What the fuck was happening?

My chest felt tight, like I couldn't get a full breath. My hands shook, and the edges of my vision started to blur, making it hard to focus.

The door suddenly opened, flooding the room with harsh light. I turned away from the blinding brightness, my heart pounding so hard I could barely breathe. For one terrifying moment, I saw a shadow in the doorway.

Then the door closed, and darkness swallowed me again. But now I wasn't alone anymore.

My heart raced as footsteps crossed the floor, measured and controlled. The scrape of a chair. Then, the flick of a lighter cut through the silence, followed by the acrid scent of cigarette smoke.

I couldn't really see his face, just the sharp lines of his clean-shaven jaw and the glint of his glasses. Despite my fear, I found myself trying to piece together his features in the darkness. After the calculating efficiency of the men who'd taken me, this one was something else entirely—dangerous in a way I couldn't quite define.

His voice broke through the silence. "You haven't called for help." His words came out calm, almost too casual, but carried an intensity that made my breath catch. Something in that voice stirred an unfamiliar feeling within me—a pull I couldn't explain and didn't dare examine too closely.

I bit my lip, trying to keep it from trembling. "My stepfather will pay your ransom, mister, if that's what you're after. He—"

"We know all about your stepfather," he interrupted, his tone sharp with certainty. "And you're right, he will pay. Just not necessarily with money."

He took a long drag on his cigarette, the ember briefly illuminating his sharp features. I shivered involuntarily.

"Tell me, what's the last thing you remember?"

The question hit me like a punch to the gut. Flashes of memory surged through my mind: The helicopter's blades cutting through the night sky. The strange gentleness of my captors despite everything. The dizzying sensation of taking off, of leaving my gilded cage behind.

Then... darkness.

I swallowed hard, reaching for whatever strength I had left.

"What do you want from me?" The words came out softer than I'd intended, but steadier than I felt.

He leaned forward, close enough that I caught the faint scent of cologne beneath the cigarette smoke. "Sweetheart, your stepfather's power can only get him so far. It's time for you to help us change the rules."

My hands trembled in my lap, but something in his voice—a hint of respect beneath the steel—made me lift my chin. "I don't know anything," I whispered.

"Oh, but you can help us, Pearl." The way he said my name sent a shiver through me, one I couldn't quite explain. "You will help us. Whether you want to or not."

The door opened again and more figures entered the room. Five... no, six new shadows joined the scene, each moving with the same lethal grace as their leader.

His cigarette cast one last golden glow across his perfect features.

And I knew I was in trouble when I wanted to see more.

1

PEARL

Three Days Earlier

Iran the ivory-handled brush through my blonde locks, counting each stroke until I hit fifty. The soft bristles, once my mother's, now mine, whispered against my scalp.
They say playing with fire is dangerous, but with ten men like these, I’m ready to ignite.

Back in my hometown to investigate an arson case, I never expected the sparks to fly in more ways than one. It's my first time back since my mom's death tore my life apart, a past I vowed to leave behind.
As I work closely with these ten smoldering firemen, their magnetic pull is hard to resist, and I'm struggling to keep my cool with every second that passes.

Paolo, our fire chief, really knows how to heat things up with those smoldering glances and his rugged, commanding presence. Cohen's got that roguish charm and those deep, enticing eyes that just pull you in.
Then there's Garette and Gabe, my old high school rivals, now irresistibly tempting with their muscular builds and playful, teasing grins. Matty spices up the mix with his bold flirting and cheeky winks, hinting at fun adventures.
Kit and Kieran, my childhood besties, always bring a calming, deep connection that's as soothing as it is intense. Tobin keeps things intriguing with his mysterious aura, drawing me closer with every encounter.
Jae, with his striking good looks and witty charm, totally steals the scene, while Angus, reliable and strong, offers a comforting embrace that's both protective and thrilling.

As tension simmers into an inferno, the flames of passion threaten to devour us all.
Little did I know, I'm about to uncover a truth about my mom's death that is more shocking than anything I could have imagined.

Can love conquer the darkness that surrounds us, or will we be consumed by the secrets we uncover?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue: Paolo

Smoke rose into the sky in dark clouds, fading among the darkness of night.

I had seen more fires in my forty-six years than I could count, but weight still settled on my shoulders as I watched a destructive blaze swallow a small but charming house whole. The heat from the fire washed over me in a suffocating wave, even being felt through my firefighter gear.

“When will it end?” I muttered beneath my breath, the sound of defeat lingering in my words.

For the past few months, my crew and I had been fighting fire after fire, barely able to catch our breaths before we were called again. I didn’t know what in the world was going on in this town, but it wasn’t anything good. Something weird was going on.

“Concentrate on the second story left window!” Cohen, my station officer, shouted as he and Jae controlled the hose, spraying water into the broken second floor window where flames were crawling through.

The white vinyl siding of the house was already stained black from the smoke pouring out of the windows and front door, smearing every good memory with a stroke of destruction.

My crew fanned out, working the house, telling neighbors to stand back, and searching for the house owners. Murmurs of concern sounded behind us as worried onlookers watched the flames lick their way upward and outward, sparks crackling in the night sky.

A moment later, Garrett, my search and rescue specialist, stumbled out of the house, ushering along a scared young mom and her baby. Coughs broke from them as they hurried toward the street where the fire truck was parked and where Angus, our EMT, was waiting to treat the injured.

The young woman glanced around, soot streaks staining her straight blonde hair as she cradled her baby against her chest.

“Connor? Where’s Connor? He was right behind me!” she shouted, panic making her voice shaky.

“Is that your son?” Garrett asked her as he looked back toward the house.

“Yes, my son! He’s only eight. Please, please find him!” The woman fretted with tears in her eyes.

I turned to Gabe, the hazmat technician and Garrett’s older brother, who was geared up and ready to go.

“Go!” I told him before walking over to the woman. “He’ll get your son. Let Angus check you and your baby over, okay?”

The woman couldn’t take her eyes off the house, but she let Garrett lead her over to Angus, who had an oxygen mask ready if needed.

Gabe stormed into the house, disappearing in the midst of the dark smoke.

My heart thudded heavily as I trained my eyes on the door, waiting for the twenty-five-year-old man to pop back out of the house with a young boy in his arms. Cohen and Kit were doing a good job controlling the fire and preventing it from spreading too much more, but the structure was starting to weaken from the flames eating away at it.

The house could collapse from the inside. I had seen it countless times. There was only so long charred structures could hold up an entire home without crumbling into ash.

“Come on, Gabe,” I murmured, sweat beading on my forehead under my helmet as each minute passed by.

“Where’s my son?” the woman cried from behind me. “Connor!”

“Damn it,” I breathed out as I turned to Garrett, who stared at the weakening house with worried eyes. His brother hadn’t reappeared yet.

Garrett started to step forward to charge back into the house, but he paused when we saw a dark silhouette appear in the smoke.

Gabe thundered out of the house with a small, blonde-haired boy in his arms. He cradled the child against his body, shielding him from smoke and fire. The moment they hit fresh air, Gabe leaned his head back for a second, taking a deep breath.

Garrett hurried over to him, helping him carry the boy over to his mother, who threw her arms around her son, while Angus held her other baby.

“Oh, I thought I lost you!” the woman cried into her son’s hair.

A relieved breath left me as the flames started to die down, and everyone was safely out of the house. A decent crowd occupied the street behind me, watching with horror in their eyes. It could’ve been any of their houses.

I glanced to the left and paused when I saw a woman in her twenties standing on the outskirts of the crowd. Maybe my eyes were hazy from the smoke or it was just dark, but she looked incredibly pale.

“Ma’am, are you okay?” I called out as I started walking toward her.

She didn’t take her eyes off the fire, her lips slightly parted with shock. She started to take a step back, but she swayed a little, her hand reaching out to steady herself. It was like she was moving in slow motion, though, not having the reflexes to catch herself.
One curvy woman. Nine sinfully seductive soldiers. A panty-melting journey that will leave you gasping for breath.Living in the shadow of my military husband, David, I felt a gnawing void, a yearning for his touch, his gaze, his mere presence. But when a treacherous mission in a war-torn land offered a chance to reignite our flame, I found myself captivated not just by him, but by the rugged men of his unit.

Each of them was a tantalizing enigma - Mo, with his heart-melting kindness; Bowie, a hot-as-sin intellect; the Rogue triplets - Aziel, Amir, and Andre, an irresistible mix of brain and brawn; and the Atkins triplets - Eli, Rick, and Em, who were every shade of tempting, their dedication and focus igniting a fire within me I'd never felt before.

The more time I spent with them, the more I craved their touch, their affection, their commanding presence. Each one of them sparked a new facet of desire in me, a new flavor of love I hadn’t known of.

When David confessed his fantasy to see me shared among them—I was thrown into a whirlpool of lust, love, and uncharted territories.

But as we drew nearer to our goal, tensions escalated, and our unconventional bond was put to the test. As our return to normalcy looms, I'm left with a burning Where do we go from here?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue: David

Sweat brimmed my forehead as I pressed my back against the cement wall of the staircase, dust fluttering in the air as I looked down at the door that separated me and my unit of eight other brave soldiers from a helpless, kidnapped diplomat and who knew how many enemies. But this was part of the job.

This was part of being a soldier.

I held my hand out, silently ordering the other eight men to press their backs flat against the wall in a disciplined line.

We’d trained for moments like these so that there wouldn’t be any mistakes. When we made mistakes, people died, and Paul Harper wasn’t dying today.

Paul was a United States diplomat who got caught in the crossfire of a local conflict in the Middle East. He was captured and held hostage, dropping another rescue mission in our lap to complete with precision and expertise. This was what we did.

And we were damn good at it.

As their unit leader and captain, it was my job to take all of their skills and direct them to our unit’s advantage, and we were all highly trained in different ways. I turned my head to look at my unit’s mission coordinator, Erick Atkins. His brothers, Elijah and Emmett, who bore most of the same features as him, lingered further down the line.

“I think I hear three or four different voices in there, Rick,” I reported, the smell of stale air and heat filling my nose. My military fatigues stuck to my body, making my chest feel that much tighter as danger loomed ahead. There was always a possibility that me or one of my brothers wouldn’t make it out of a mission alive.

Erick gave me a curt nod, his lips resting in a straight line as they usually did. If he was ever captured and interrogated, they wouldn’t even be able to make him grimace. He was strong in his resolve, and he probably barely flinched when he got that scar above his left eyebrow.

“We hit hard and fast. No hesitation,” he said before turning to Aziel next to him, who was our close protection specialist. Aziel made sure to provide protection to high-value targets, so he had to step up once we reached Paul. “Your brothers will cover you.”

Aziel turned to Amir and Andre, who all made up another triplet bunch in our unit, and nudged Amir.

“Don’t let me die in there,” he said, still looking composed despite the light sheen of sweat that covered his deep brown skin.

Amir, who was precisely nicknamed Sniper, smirked at his brother and held up his scoped rifle. Typically, he was hiding on a rooftop or specifically placed out of sight so that he could do recon or long-range assault, but he could be just as lethal in close range too, especially with Andre, who was our firearms expert.

“You worry about the hostage. Me and Andre have your back,” he replied.

Andre nodded in agreement, determination glinting in his hazel eyes that differed from his brothers’ darker brown eyes. He had softer features and a gentler demeanor than his brothers, but when he had a weapon in his hands, he was one of the most dangerous guys in the room.

Bowen, our tech and communications expert, leaned forward to look at me, a strand of his reddish-brown hair falling against his forehead.

“We’re ready back here. Mo and I will take up the rear to make sure no one sneaks up on us,” he said, referring to Mohammed, our reconnaissance specialist, who was also a second-generation Pakistani immigrant.

I nodded, preparing to go for the door, but I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I quickly checked the screen to make sure it wasn’t my superior, but the name “Brianna” appeared instead. A guilty ache struck me in the chest as I ended the call before the vibrating gave us away.

A man never wanted to hang up on his wife. She was my world after fourteen years of marriage, but there were times when I had to put work before her. I hated that, especially the thought of making her feel neglected, but what could I do?

My brothers needed me to lead them, and there was a man on the brink of death in the next room. Once again, I had to make that tough decision and hope that it didn’t break us even more than we already were. But that was a problem to discuss when I made it home.

Right now, it was go time.

I placed my hand over the doorknob, quietly testing it to make sure that it wasn’t locked. Thanks to Mo’s recon and Bowen’s handy tech toys, we managed to sneak into the three-story, abandoned building without being seen. Our presence was about to be well-known.

Erick put his hand on my shoulder, motioning to me that everyone else was ready to go.
A biker gang wants me to have their baby? This must be some wild joke.It all started with a flirty chat with Kai, the leader of the Iron Serpents MC. Sure, it's unconventional, but who can resist this kind of adventure?Moving into their clubhouse, I'm surrounded by eight drop-dead gorgeous men.Kai, the grumpy and commanding leader, stirs my desires like a tempest on a motorcycle. Auden, the VP, ignites a fire within me, making my knees weak. Hayden exudes adventure and danger, stoking my wildest temptations. Bradley's fiery unpredictability sparks a sensual inferno. The Brookmyre triplets, with their charisma, leave me longing for more. And then there is Lincoln, a blend of strength and vulnerability that awakens an irresistible longing. With bodies sculpted for sin and eyes that penetrate my soul, these bikers ignite a passionate storm within me. Throughout my pregnancy, they shower me with care, and every day I fall for them a little harder. But as my due date approaches, emotions are all over the place. The contract's ending, and I'm clueless about what comes next. And just when I think things couldn't get crazier, a rival gang catches wind of our arrangement, putting us all at risk. Will our newfound family survive the impending danger?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue: Kai

The Tap was always busiest on Friday nights, sounds from inside and outside clashing in the middle.

Old rock tunes and the clinking of glasses filled the dimly lit interior, lights flashing from the televisions playing local sports games or national UFC fights. But the outside was where all the action was at.

The fights. The exhilarating atmosphere. The biker gangs.

Tonight, my gang, the Iron Serpents, occupied the parking lot in front of the biker bar.

As I stood next to my black Harley Davidson Softail Standard, my fingers mindlessly tapped against the leather seat as my eyes swept over the seven other guys who made up the Iron Serpents. As president of the club, these guys looked up to me, but they were my family through and through.

We all relied on each other, especially when trouble arose.

The distant sound of numerous motorcycles rumbled somewhere off in town, prompting me to look over at Auden—better known to us as, “Archer” as he had chosen for his road name. All of our identities were intertwined with the club, and I believed our time spent together made us better. Tougher. We sure needed to be in this town.

“I think we have company,” I told him.

Archer scoffed as he grabbed his leather jacket off the seat of his cruiser, slipping it on and getting the attention of the other six Serpents. When he put his back to me, I caught sight of the club’s patch on the back. Two green snakes wrapped around an iron blade.

We were as strong as blades and as quick as snakes. Yet, people still tried to mess with us. Specifically, the Hornets.

Around ten guys drove up to the biker bar, parking their cruisers in a staggered line next to ours. When their engines cut off I could hear their low chuckles, which made my jaw tighten. That could only mean trouble.

Ghoul, the Hornet’s President, slung his leg over the seat of his bike, his black boots hitting the gravel with a heavy thump. He pulled off his open-faced helmet and set it on his seat before walking over to me, his goons hanging back by their bikes.

“Ironheart, figured I’d find you here,” he commented with a slight smirk, his icy eyes darting between me and the others.

“Why’d you come looking?” I questioned him, hearing light thuds as the other Serpents started to gravitate toward me.

For years, we had clashed with the Hornets, who wanted this entire town to be their territory. They had already scared off other smaller gangs, but we weren’t going anywhere. This was home for us, and they could either learn to share the area or suffer the consequences of messing with us.

“Because he’s obsessed!” Bradley, or Blaze, bit out from behind me, immediately being shot a look of warning from Claude, or Crimson, our level-headed Secretary. As much as these guys pissed us off, we tried not to engage in fights with them.

Ghoul scoffed and tilted his shaved head a little, his jaw tightening.

“Maybe. There’s room for only one club here at The Tap. We’ve known the owner longer, so I suggest you guys hit up an Applebee’s or something,” Ghoul told me, prompting laughter from his members.

Lincoln, also known as Lone Wolf and my Sergeant-At-Arms, moved to my side with narrowed eyes. He was the newest member, but no one questioned his loyalty to the Serpents. He ensured security and order, and things were starting to go awry as the Hornets started to get more rowdy, egging their president on.

“This won’t end well if we stay,” he murmured to me.

I knew that, but I also knew what it looked like if we left.

“We were here first. There are six other nights in a week,” I stated in a firm voice.

Ghoul chuckled in a cold manner as he stepped closer to me.

“We want to be here now,” he said.

I stood my ground, my eyes not moving a centimeter away from his.

“I couldn’t give a damn what you want,” I gritted out, leaning forward an inch.

Ghoul had come looking for a fight, because the moment those words hissed through my teeth, he swung at me, striking my cheek with his fist, and sending me stumbling sideways.

“Son of a bitch!” Bradley snapped before lunging at Ghoul, his shoulder connecting with Ghoul’s chest to knock him backward.

I regained my balance and turned to see chaos unfolding as Serpents clashed with Hornets. We were strong and fast, but we were also outnumbered. Bradley, Claude, and Chris were back-to-back, fighting against five Hornets and taking more hits than they could deliver.

Auden and Hayden, my Road Captain, were both on the ground, unable to even get back up on their feet. Lincoln managed to send one Hornet limping off, but another was already ready to face off with him.

I didn’t want to give up our position here, but I wasn’t going to let my guys get more hurt than they already were.

Who would've thought my life as a single mom could get tangled up with seven rugged tattoo artists?

My focus has always been on raising my daughter, shielding her from the scars of my past.
Love life? Non-existent.
Until my adventurous friend dragged me into Swan and Rose, a tattoo parlor that screamed trouble and temptation.
In a heartbeat, I'm thrust into a world of art, redemption, and seven sinfully alluring artists. Yeah, you read that right—seven.
Each guy's got a past as colorful as their tattoos. And despite their rugged looks, they're hiding something more.
These guys aren't your typical next-door neighbors.
They are ex-cons, each with a story that'll have you on the edge of your seat.
Yet, the connection I feel with them is electric.

Just when things couldn't get more complicated, my toxic ex reappears, threatening everything.
Suddenly, those inked bad boys turn into knights in shining armor, ready to protect me and my daughter.
Secrets unravel, desire ignites, and the intensity skyrockets.

Can a single mom like me find her place in this world of ink, attraction, and unexpected surprises?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Madison

A cloud of flour billowed over the white laminate countertops and matching tile flooring of my small kitchen, followed by an excited shriek.

“Do it again!” my endlessly cheery six-year-old daughter, Chloe, exclaimed as she stood right by my side.

Despite the mess I would have to pick up later, I couldn’t help but smile and look down at her, placing my hand on top of her head over her shoulder-length, chestnut hair that matched mine. She looked so much like me, which I was so grateful for. I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be to look into her little face and see the familiar features of …well, him.

“You’re silly,” I joked with her, making her giggle. I handed her the whisk and helped her step up on her stool so that she could reach the counter. “Whisk together all of the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, okay?”

Chloe nodded and clumsily mixed everything together, having the time of her life as some of it splattered on the counter. Oh, well. What was one more little mess to clean up, if it made her happy?

I had been a single mom for years, so everything came down to me. Taking care of Chloe. Picking up waitressing shifts at a local sports bar. Cleaning up the house. Shopping for groceries. And anything and everything in between.

However, I’d rather do all of that by myself than be stuck in a relationship with someone who didn’t care about me or Chloe. Because of that fear that someone would have love both of us, my dating life had been as dry as the desert lately. At least I had some of the best company, though.

“Done!” Chloe said, only having a few splotches of flour on her pink shirt.

“Good job!” I told her as I peered down at the smooth mix. There were actually only a few chunks that needed to be whisked out, but she was a natural.

Honestly, her natural intelligence reminded me a lot of my sister, Leah, who was currently taking Harvard by storm as an incredible hockey player. I couldn’t have been prouder of her for succeeding in not only academia but sports too. Who else could say their sister had the potential to go pro?

Despite the doubt and pushback she received from countless people, including our own father, Leah was chasing her dreams and blowing people away. I never doubted her, no matter how big her dreams were. I wished our father felt the same, as a parent should, but Leah already proved she didn’t need an ounce of his approval or support to be successful.

Then, there was me. Single mom. Waitress. Baking hobbyist.

My hidden jealousy of my sister and my guilt for feeling that way were intertwined. We both had our own strengths and weaknesses, and I tried to pride myself on the fact that I had a happy kid, and I doubled down and fought hard to get away from my ex.

That counted for something, right?

“Tonight, we should FaceTime your Aunt Leah,” I said to Chloe as I showed her how to spoon the mixture into a circular cake pan.

Chloe nodded enthusiastically.

“I want to play hockey too!” she told me.

I laughed softly and placed the cake pan in my preheated oven, the door squeaking loudly as I pushed it shut. Chloe seemed to be determined to try every hobby and activity known to man. If she saw me bake, she wanted to bake. If she saw her grandmother gardening, she wanted to garden. She loved learning new things.

“Maybe she can show you how to ice skate when she comes home for winter break,” I told her before checking the time on the stove. “It’ll take around thirty minutes, okay? Why don’t you go watch cartoons until it’s done?”
Six hockey players, one fearless captain, and a sizzling tale of love, rivalry, and secrets. When I join Yale's ice hockey team, my goal is to prove that women deserve their place in the game. Tensions simmer between the men's and women's teams, but fate has a different plan in store. One unforgettable night, passion ignites between me and several members of the men's team, blurring the boundaries of rivalry and desire. Their touch, their alluring charm, opens a door to a world I never expected. Hugo , the smoldering captain, challenges my resolve at every turn. Stephen , the irresistible center, tempts me with his magnetic charm. Mikael , the passionate left winger, sends shivers down my spine with his tantalizing touch. Anthony , the devoted right winger, fuels my desire with his captivating gaze, leaving me yearning for more. And then there are Colm and Jed —locked in a secret affair that adds a sinful edge to our already intense encounters. Back on campus, I find myself helplessly drawn to these guys, feeling a magnetic pull growing stronger. But they are my enemies, and I swear to resist their temptations. As the women's team achieves unprecedented success, tensions mount. But a scandalous event threatens to crumble everything we've built. Yet, the men surprise me with a grand gesture I never expected.
Can I find a way to reconcile the fierce rivalry and the undeniable chemistry that exists between us?
Step onto the ice and brace yourself for an unforgettable journey with six daring hockey players and a relentless captain, where rivalries, secrets, and passion collide in a game that leaves you breathless.

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Leah

The sound of my heartbeat thudded loudly between my ears as I walked down the hallway toward my new dorm room at Yale University.

Sheer determination gripped me as my eyes swept the busy hall as other students hurried to move all of their things in or meet their new roommates. This was the beginning of a new chapter of our lives, and everything was about to change.

I was going to prove that I belonged here.

“Wow, this place is fancy.”

My sister Madison’s voice drew me out of my head, prompting me to nod as we both admired the grey tile flooring and sleek, black doors to the dorm rooms. This place was the real deal, packed full of super smart people and overachievers. My grades were good in high school, but the main reason I was here was for athletics.

Specifically, ice hockey.

I scored a scholarship that I couldn’t refuse, and I saw being the goaltender of Yale’s women’s ice hockey team as a way to shut up every single person who doubted me or a woman’s place in the sport of ice hockey.

I couldn’t count how many times men had turned their noses up at the thought of women playing the sport, claiming that it was for men or that women couldn’t handle the intensity and physicality.

I strove to prove all of them wrong while playing the sport I loved so dearly.

“I just can’t believe I’m finally here,” I told her as we dragged my bags to the dorm room at the end of the hallway on the left. It looked like the door was already open, strained huffs sounding from inside.

“You worked hard for it!” Madison reminded me as she flashed me an encouraging smile. “Honor roll. Captain of your high school hockey team. Scholarship winner. Now, you’re going to be Yale’s best ice hockey captain and politics major. Or I’m going to kick your ass over it.”

A grateful smile crossed my face as I nodded. She was right. I did work hard.

Madison and I were raised by a single mom after our father left early on, which meant money was tight. I knew that there was no way that my mom could afford to send me to college and keep us fed, housed, and clothed at the same time, so I pushed myself to get a scholarship so that I could further my hockey career.

It was either that or be stuck in our small town full of small minds.

When I walked into my dorm room, I spotted another girl struggling to put together a simple display bookshelf, screws and parts littering the floor near her knees as she sat on the wooden floor.

“Do you need help?” I asked her as I dropped my things off near the bed that wasn’t made yet. It seemed like the left side was going to be my side of the room.

The girl looked behind her shoulder and immediately smiled in a friendly manner as she rose to her feet. She stuck her hand out to me, a few strands of her hair falling against her forehead.

“Hey, I’m Jourdanne,” she introduced herself.

“Leah. This is my sister Madison,” I said as I shook her hand.

Madison smiled at my new roommate and shook her hand. She was effortlessly sweet and certainly the favorite sister when people in town compared us.

With long, brown hair and a curvy figure, all eyes shot to her, leaving me on the sidelines.

Hockey was the only instance where I felt like I was a big part of the game.

For everything else, Madison was the star, but we were still close. She couldn’t help the fact that she was more likable and beautiful, while I was rougher around the edges and certainly more athletically built.

Jourdanne placed her hands on her hips as she eyed my sports bag.

“Are you an athlete?” she asked me.

I nodded.

“I’m on the women’s ice hockey team,” I told her, bracing myself, expecting her to be surprised or skeptical like so many other people.

Instead, Jourdanne beamed at me.

“That’s so cool!” she said before laughing. “I have no athletic ability whatsoever, but at least one of us is in shape. This shelf is kicking my ass.”

I cracked a smile, already liking her optimistic attitude. I had a feeling that we would meld just fine, and I just hoped that I got along with the girls on the team too. I would be the captain of the team, so I not only had to get along with them, but I had to lead them as well.

The pressure of leading weighed on me slightly like it did for any person, but something about these other girls relying on me to rally them and lead them to victory inspired me more than anything else. And I didn’t harp on some fancy trophy we would get or even bragging rights. I told them to focus on the self-fulfillment that they would feel. The people they would prove wrong.
Working on a ranch with my enigmatic childhood crush has never been more complicated, especially when I find myself falling for his four smokin’ hot bandmates too.
After my disastrous breakup with a music producer who thinks he’s the king of the world, I vow to never let another man control me. But when my record label offers me the chance to work with a rising country band in my hometown, my resolve is put to the test.
I went back to my hometown and reunited with Ryder, my childhood best friend’s brother. Ryder is still the passionate artist I remember, and the man I’ve always had a thing for. He left after that sinful night, and we haven’t spoken since. As we worked on the single together, our chemistry ignited like a wildfire.
But here’s the catch: Ryder is already in a relationship with another woman. It feels like we have some unfinished business between us, and the thought of a second chance with him has left me feeling achy and needy.
And then there are his bandmates, each offering something different….
Wyatt, with smoldering eyes and rough hands, has a primal edge that leaves me yearning for his touch.
Carson, the charismatic bad boy, has a way with words that leaves me breathless.
Jesse, the devoted single father with rock-hard abs, inspires me with his selflessness and passion.
And then there’s Amos, the laid-back lead singer, whose playful nature and sensual voice have me falling under his spell.
Put them all together, and my body is on fire. The thought of experiencing them all at once has my heart racing with excitement – and my imagination running wild.
But my heart is torn in a million directions. I don’t know where I belong.
The thought of leaving the these five captivating men behind is unbearable, but I have a life back in the city.
And the more I indulge in this fantasy, the harder it becomes to ignore the painful reality: Ryder is already with someone else, and I am just a temporary guest on their ranch.
Can I really have it all – the music and the love, the city and the countryside – or is this just a fleeting moment of passion and desire?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Chapter 1

Delilah

“Stupid… selfish… boy!”

I sniffled as I leaned closer to my bathroom mirror, hastily wiping away my streaked mascara and black eyeliner that was smudged around my eyes. I was so tired of crying over a scummy man who couldn’t care less about me other than my fame and money. That was what I got for dating a music producer.

When I lived in my small hometown of Chalice Falls, everything felt so tiny, so insignificant. How could the things that happened to me in such an unnoticed place really matter that much? But here in New York City, everything felt huge. Monumental.

On top of it all, people knew me here. Not like in my hometown where everyone knew me through my family or school because the town is so small, but I was a public figure here. A known country singer with a whole career ahead of me.

Every single thing that happened to me mattered now because people were watching my every move. Including my stupid ones.

I didn’t realize I had found myself in a snake den when I agreed to let Ethan Lennon take me out on a date after one of our music-making sessions. I got swept up in his charming words and bright, unnaturally white grin. He was widely known around the New York music scene, and I was over the moon at the fact that someone so famous wanted to date me, of all people.

That small town mindset screwed me in the end, and I didn’t even think of it as a red flag that he didn’t want anyone to really know that we were dating. He told me that we would work on so many new projects together and rise to the top, soaring over everyone else’s heads.

I didn’t care to be A-list level famous. I just wanted my music to reach as far and wide as possible, and in a way, he promised that. He claimed to be the key to everything I ever wanted, while wooing me with dates at exclusive places and all kinds of special treatment that I never once experienced in Chalice Falls.

Ethan introduced me to a whole new world, and I ignored every warning sign glaring right in my face because I had my eyes so set on the future instead of the present.

Now, I was embarrassed, trying to claw my way back to some dignity that I lost when he broke up with me and shattered my heart. I couldn’t help but feel pathetic, but I did my best to lift my head up and straighten myself out. I had a career to focus on, and I would make a bigger impact on the music scene than some scummy producer.

I redid my makeup, keeping the rest of my tears at bay because Ethan didn’t deserve to be cried over. In an hour, I had a meeting with Mark, my record label executive, who handled nearly all the aspects of my music career, to discuss my next move. I figured he would suggest a tour or a music video. Things I had done before.

I arrived at the tall office building that housed Silent Sun Records. Mark greeted me the second I stepped out of the elevator on the fourth floor.

“There you are! We’ve got a lot to talk about, sunshine,” Mark quipped as he motioned for me to follow him into his office down the hallway. He was an older man with short, slightly fluffy white hair, blue eyes, and a stocky figure. He always had a grin on his face and acted as hyperactive as a kid after eating too many cookies.

“Coming,” I said as I hurried my pace to catch up to him, the heels of my black boots thumping against the wooden floor. He often referred to me as sunshine, especially when I started hitting it off and becoming the face of the label. It made pride glow in my chest like a happy ball of light.

Mark plopped down in his leather chair at his desk, gesturing for me to sit in the cushioned chair across from him that I always sat in.

“I have an offer for you that you can’t refuse,” he told me with a giddy look on his face.

I lifted my eyebrows in interest. This seemed like something different.

“What is it?” I asked him, leaning forward slightly.

“There’s an up-and-coming country band called Amos and the Collectibles. People are loving them! And evidently, they love some Delilah Harrington. They want to record a song with you!” Mark revealed, holding his hands out like he just presented me with a gift.

I knew that this was a great opportunity for me, especially if this band was actually making waves like Mark claimed. However, my mind shifted to what happened last time I partnered up with someone to make music. He left me heartbroken and tried to take control of any songs that we had worked on together.
I never thought I’d need a bodyguard, let alone four of them.
But when my father’s illegal dealings make me a target, I have no choice but to trust my life to four alluring protectors.
When I’m assigned four bodyguards, I’m annoyed – I don’t want to be controlled again.
Their presence interrupts my plans to use my family’s wealth to make a positive impact on the world, and everyone around me is so intimidated.
I try to be cold towards them, even though I feel a spark of attraction.
But as I spend more time with the four of them, their rough edges and protective instincts make it harder to resist.
Andrew, the stoic and serious leader, keeps me safe and steady.
Benjamin, the rough-edged bad boy, shows me a wilder side of life that I never knew existed. Rhett, the funny and goofy one, makes me laugh and reminds me of the joy in life.
And Akio, the quick-witted and idealistic one, challenges me to be my best self and fights for what’s right. Each one offers something different, but together they make me feel whole.
When a mistake nearly costs me my life, I realize I need their protection – and maybe even something more.
As we’re sequestered in a safehouse, the lines between protection and pleasure start to blur. Every night is filled with dizzying, overwhelming desire that leaves me breathless and wanting more.
Though I know I should keep my distance, the temptation is too much to resist.
But with my life on the line, I must find a way to stop my father’s enemies before they hurt me – or worse.
Can I trust my bodyguards to protect me, even as we give into our desire? And can our love survive the danger that surrounds us?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

EMERY

The deafening sound of my heavy, rapid heartbeat thundered in my ears as I watched a group of investigators tear apart my father’s home office.

They tossed papers, pens, and files across the room as I lingered in the doorway with wide eyes. My father wasn’t here to defend himself or his property. He was already behind bars in the city jail, leaving me to deal with the mess he’d left behind.

“You can’t do this!” I raised my voice at the investigators, who ignored me and continued combing through all of my father’s belongings for evidence. I didn’t even know if they would find anything or not. Before he was suddenly arrested for money laundering, I had no idea that my father was a criminal.

One of the investigators grabbed my father’s laptop out of a drawer in his desk. He headed toward the doorway, pausing with an annoyed look on his face when I didn’t budge from the spot. His thick, dark eyebrows were nearly as prominent as his chevron mustache, which I guessed stole all the hair off the top of his bald head.

“Ma’am, we’ve acquired a warrant. Leave the premises until our investigation is complete,” he told me in a firm voice before pushing past me.

I stared after him with a bewildered look. Not only were they scuffing up the recently polished wooden floors with their dirty shoes, but they were treating me like I was an obstacle! My father never let people treat me like that, but he hadn’t ever gotten arrested either.

He was the owner of a successful tech business with enough charm and intelligence to build a network of support and respect for himself. It seemed like everyone in the city knew him, and money flooded his bank account for quite a few years. He used it to spoil his family, building a beautiful, two-story brick house and purchasing new cars, the finest clothes, and even other businesses to bring in more revenue.

Despite the money, my mother still left a few years ago, and I wondered if it was because she found out about the money laundering before the police did. She never gave me a clear reason as to why she’d left, but I knew it had to do with something my father had done. It wasn’t like he was a perfect person.

“Leave? I live here!” I protested. It was no use, though. All I received in return was silence, so I scowled at them before storming down the hallway to my room to scoop as many clothes and toiletries that I could in one pink and white suitcase. Its wheels thumped down the stairs as I made my way into the vast, tile-floored foyer of my father’s house.

I spent every year of my twenty-three years of life here in this house. My father was insistent on having me as close as possible so that he could watch over me, especially these last few years. He was wary every time I walked out the door, kept a tracker on my phone and car so that he knew where I was at all times, and he ran a background check on every single one of my friends. It was safe to say that I didn’t have many friends anymore.

It was nearly impossible to have a life outside of him and this house. He assured me that the world was terrible and dangerous and that it was safer for me to stay close to him. As great as it was to have a caring father, he took his protective, fatherly duties too far.

It was only when I walked out onto the front porch of the house that I realized I was free in a way. I felt upset and terrified that my father was in jail, but for once, I didn’t have someone’s eyes hovering over my every move. It was odd, like the night air had grown thinner than usual. It was easier to draw a breath in through my nose and let it flood into my lungs.

Then, my throat tightened, making it harder to simply take a deep breath. With my father gone, my home and source of protection were missing as well. I had to find a place to crash that had a sturdy lock on the door until things cooled down. I had been cast out into the world that my father was terrified of letting me venture through.

“Is there anything you can tell me about Deviau? There seems to be connections between his criminal enterprise and Harold’s business.”

I looked toward the cement walkway that led up to the porch, seeing Zoe try to convince one of the investigators to give her a dash of information about what was going on. Swallowing hard, I tried to hurry past her, not wanting to be pestered with questions that I didn’t have the answers to because I actually didn’t know anything about my father.
My three cocky stepbrothers love playing games…and I’m their new target.

Parvati
My mom’s remarrying a billionaire.
Which means I’m getting three arrogant, spoiled stepbrothers.
Desperate to distract myself from the wedding, I cut loose the night before.
And who better to do it with than Damien?
A smooth-talking charmer with irresistible dimples and blue eyes.
Too bad that Damien isn’t just anyone, but one of my new stepbrothers!
Worse, I’ve just spilled my guts to his identical twin, Dax.
I should’ve noticed that despite his looks, Dax is nothing like his player twin Damien.
Dax is the guy next door who knows how to do yard work and isn’t a spoiled jerk.
As if my humiliation wasn’t bad enough their brother Daniel hears about my indiscretion.
Who, by the way, is just as handsome as the other two.
Quiet and brooding, Daniel’s a leader. A man who takes charge.
Why did I have to end up with three hot-as-sin stepbrothers?
And why can’t I control my inappropriate thoughts?

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

PARVATI

I tapped my heel on the carpet of the venue as I listened to the wedding planner talk. Well, I was zoning out really.

Stopping in that evening was the last thing I wanted to do, but my mom was getting remarried. As her maid of honor, it was my duty to make sure everything was in place. And there were a lot of things to check off the lists she’d made.

“So, what do you think?” Sarah asked as she leaned close to me with a gleeful smile on her face. She had bouncy auburn hair and the biggest blue eyes in the world. Well. What did I think? That maybe the venue was too big, or the details too extravagant. I mean, who needed umpteen thousand flowers for a single afternoon?

“Great,” I said, forcing a smile back. Not as gleeful. “And we can come anytime?”

Sarah nodded, then glanced at the clipboard she had clung to during the tour. “Yep. Everything is already decorated and set, we’re ready to go.”

Yay. My mom was in love, that much was clear, but I guess I never expected her to remarry. My dad had only passed away a few years ago, so everything still felt fresh. And Danforth Rolsom, Mr. Billionaire himself, was nothing like my dad. It was such a turnaround.

“Well, thanks then. I’ll see myself out.”

Sarah gave me a nod, then she went back to the rear of the building, the place that housed a small kitchen, an office, and the dressing rooms. The wedding venue had it all. A place for the ceremony, then a place for the reception. And everything, just as Sarah said, was already in place. White lilies on each table, soft pink candles, ribbons, fine china, stemware. Sarah and her company had taken care of every last detail.

My favorite, though, was the kitchen. It was quaint and cozy, and it reminded me of baking with my dad. Long weekends hovered over a steaming stove, fresh pastries from the oven. It was heaven.

I headed to the front where the double doors stood about ten-feet tall. Arched high to a point, the entrance was like a cathedral. The heavy cherry-wood doors held elaborate designs and a thick brass handle each. If that didn’t set the tone, I didn’t know what would.

Outside, I found the day to be even more foggy than I remembered. I was in the venue for about an hour, making sure everything was ready for the ceremony tomorrow. Now that it was almost six, the autumn evening was settling in. I went across the street and got into my car, and not two seconds after turning the key, I heard a deafening honk and a screech of tires just outside my door.

I looked out the window and spotted a man exiting his car as he cursed at the person in the truck up ahead. I sat there watching him for a second, and when he noticed me, I felt a moment of embarrassment. Why I was staring him over like a piece of fresh meat was beyond me.

The man shrugged, then he gave me a carefree smile. I couldn’t help but return his gesture as I took a minute to drink him in. He was tall and clean-cut. Light, golden-brown hair seemed to wave out in all directions, just a little longer than the perfect fade in the back. He had a chiseled jaw, and he was clean-shaven, allowing me to see both his dimples perfectly well.

There was something inviting about him as he came over to the car, shaking his head. The truck that had slammed on its brakes in front of this man was long gone, but there was still a bit of anxiousness lingering in the air. It was almost as though I could tell something wild was about to happen.

I rolled down my window just as he met with the car. The second the wind carried across his cologne, I felt like I could just die and go to heaven. Everything about him screamed wealth. His suit, those shiny black shoes of his, the heavy golden watch that caught the faint light coming through the clouds overhead. He was suave and smug, and I wanted to know everything about him.

“Hey, sorry you had to see that.”

“No, no worries at all.”

The man put one hand on his hip as he reached out his other. “My name is Damien.”

I shook his hand without hesitation. “Parvati.”

Damien held my hand for a moment as he looked over me with a smile. Well, it was actually more like a grin. A devilish grin that was undressing me the longer it lasted. Those dark blue eyes of his were digging into me from every direction, peeling away any attitude I had from dealing with the day. Damien let go of my hand slowly and took a half step back. He glanced across the street at the wedding venue then he asked me, “Are you here for the wedding?”
When he got up from his chair, the door opened with another customer. That meant more money, but also that I couldn’t go out and enjoy the nice spring day.

I was working a lot lately, all to save up for Yale. It was ambitious, I knew. But after I did everything possible to get myself ready, how could I just walk away? It was my dream to do something incredible with my life, and the opportunity was right there for the taking.

“Oh, Jourdanne.” Mr. Willet stopped beside me as I shuffled two more plates in my arms. I had frosting on my apron and cheese between my fingers.

“Yes?”

“I almost forgot…” He smiled as he handed me a dollar. A single dollar bill. I forced a smile as I grabbed the thing with my dirty hand and shoved it into my pocket. Then he tipped his hat and headed to the door.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, right?” As if I could have been more desperate.

“You bet,” he answered without looking back.

When the door closed, I sighed, but I knew I couldn’t linger in my thoughts for long. There was another customer at the counter and Parvati had just rung the bell to let me know that the Patterson’s brunch was finished. If I’m lucky, maybe they’ll tip me a five.

I pushed through the kitchen doors to put the dishes into the sink and not a few seconds later I caught my dad staring over at me with that sympathetic gaze of his. I could have cried.

“Hey, beetle.” His endearing name for me bubbled out as if I was four all over again. “You have to take a day off from all this.”

“Dad, I’m fine.” Another forced smile as I rinsed my hands. “Besides, you can’t do everything yourself.”

“I don’t.” He put his hand on my back and leaned into my view as I dried my hands. He was too sweet to feel bad for the humble life he provided. It all fitted him perfectly. The Inn, the small town, the constant patrons. But not me. I wanted more; I always had. And that was never his fault.
