"I think I surprised myself," I admitted.
Jack shifted, rolling me onto my back so he could look down at me. His expression was serious, those blue eyes searching mine. "This life isn't easy. There's gonna be more days like today. More fights. More danger. It is what it is."
"Figured," I said, reaching up to trace the line of his jaw. "Not going to say I’m looking forward to the fights, but I won’t shy away from them. I’m always going to have your back."
He bent to kiss me, gentle at first, then with growing hunger. When he finally pulled back, both of us breathing hard, he rested his forehead against mine. "I ain't perfect, Honey," he warned. “But I will make you happy."
We fit together perfectly as we lay there, his large frame curving protectively around my smaller one. Outside these walls, I knew more challenges waited. But for the first time in my life, I wasn't looking for the safe option. I was ready for whatever came next, good or bad. Because I'd found where I belonged. In this biker’s arms, in this dangerous world, I'd finally found my home.
Here. With “Bloody” Jack Mason.
