When I told that to Timber, he promised to make me dinner every night. When I tried to argue, he said that he insisted, and wouldn’t take no for an answer; that it was his duty, right, and honor to care for me. But luckily, I was able to talk him into letting me take him out for dinner dates from time to time. He wasn’t the only one who wanted to care for his partner.

Once we devoured every delicious bite of our dinner, Timber gathered up the trash and placed it into the grocery bags, which he carried to the bed of the truck. He returned carrying my guitar, and took a seat next to me once more, pointing to a large, leafy bush covered in what looked like tiny white sticks.

“Remember what I said about singing helping flowers bloom?” I nodded, and he added, “I bet if you play some music, and I sing, we can get those white flowers to open up.” I knew what he could do with his hands alone; I’d seen them in action, but I was intrigued by his suggestion.

“Do you know this one?” I asked before playing a slow, gentle tune; Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

A gorgeous smile crossed Timber’s lips. “It’s one of my favorites.”

“Mine too.” I was no longer surprised by our similarities; they were becoming familiar and welcome. But I was excited to discover them all.

Timber sang the first line of the song, and I was so enraptured by the sound, I nearly stopped plucking the strings. But I pushed forward, wanting to hear the sweet melody from his lips. He undoubtedly had the voice of a god. If this song wasn’t my favorite before, it certainly was now. I had never heard it performed so beautifully. Every note washed over me, wrapping me up like a warm blanket protecting me from the crisp evening air. It captured my heart, and burned into my memory.

Almost nothing could have drawn my gaze away from Timber, lost in his song, with his eyes closed, and his body swaying with each word. But I noticed the bush sitting just beyond him. The little white ‘sticks’ were stirring. They stretched and opened, revealing pretty, white, star-shaped flowers. It was the beautiful backdrop Timber deserved.

The mix of the last strum of the guitar and Timber’s final note faded, leaving behind only cricket chirps and a gentle breeze. His eyes slowly opened, and he smiled at the flowers. “What do you think?”

“They’re lovely. Did our song really do that?” It had certainly felt like magic.

When Timber turned to me, I saw that his smile had turned into a crooked smirk. “Well, no, not exactly.” I tipped my head and he explained, “That is night blooming jasmine. It opens up around this time each evening; just a wonder of nature.” I’d fallen for the trick easily; I knew a lot about crops, but little about flowers. “But I’m sure the song helped.”

I snorted a laugh, placed my guitar on the ground by my side, and gave his shoulder a gentle shove. But as he fell backwards, Timber grabbed onto my wrist and playfully pulled me down with him, until my hands framed his face, and my body hovered above his.

His breath fanned across my cheeks, and his eyes bore into mine. My heart raced so quickly, it nearly vibrated in my chest, and I could hear it in my ears. I was overwhelmed by a mix of excitement, allure, and need.

I lowered my face to his and touched our lips together. My entire body immediately reacted. He awakened every cell; my hair raised, my skin warmed, and my blood raced.

I parted my lips and slid my tongue between his teeth. We licked and twisted together; slowly at first, but quickly moving more hungrily. My grip tightened in the grass while his hands traveled the expanse of my back, like he couldn’t touch every inch quickly enough.

My cock swelled and thickened until my pulse throbbed between my legs. I couldn’t ignore my need. I dropped my hips and grinded against Timber, feeling his own erection poking against my thigh as we moaned into each other’s mouths. He craved me as much as I craved him, and it was intoxicating.

I trailed my lips across his jaw and down his neck. He took in a deep breath when I gently bit into his neck. I nipped and nibbled on his supple skin as I rocked against him, our hard cocks rubbing together. The friction felt great, but it wasn’t enough. I needed his touch, his skin on mine.

As if he read my very thoughts, Timber slipped his hands beneath the hem of my shirt. He tried to push it up my back, but it fit too snugly. I propped my weight up, allowing him to work my shirt buttons open. His hands greedily traced over my stomach and chest, which were tight and strong from a lifetime of physical labor.
