A POEM FROM M.N. FORGY
Life and Death
Birth, death, the peculiar cycle that continues to run,
makes me ponder the meaning of life.
Every morning we’re greeted by the warm sun,
Only to be left with the dark of night. -
Love is a mysterious balance of two kindred souls,
Passion, maternal, platonic,
All make us high and feel consoled.
For each smile is happiness and every frown sad,
It makes me think of the times you spanked me when I was bad,
to the moments you wrapped your arms around me in a hug.
We went to war but eventually understood that we’re together for life.
Our past wasn’t just yesterday but is our today.
That is why I write this to remember that without the bad we would never know the good.
Through fire, war, and tears you withstood,
Taking me by the hand you showed me that I could.
You taught me that no one truly dies.
Birth and death are just allies.
