“Yes, all right,” she said at last.

“Good.” Brax nodded. “I have to get something and then I’ll be back. Why don’t you put on something that’s easy to take off—or maybe something that’s easy to open,” he added. “That gown looks gorgeous on you, but it covers way too much.”

“I’ll look and see what I can find,” Serenai promised. She knew there were a few things in the closet of this new room because she’d seen them earlier. Presumably her mother’s own closet had gotten too full and she’d had to use some of the other storage in the house to keep all her clothes in order.

“I’ll be back soon,” Brax promised and left.

Serenai went to the closet—not nearly as big as the one in her mother’s room—and was glad to see there was a selection of new clothing with tags still on them. She chose what would have been considered an extremely scandalous outfit that consisted of a gauzy red top and panties that matched.

The top fell just above her thighs and was made of a silky, see-through material that clearly showed her breasts and nipples under it. It tied between her breasts and that one single bow was the only thing holding it closed.

The panties were even more scandalous—they had a long slit, right up the middle. Two little drawstrings on either side would hold the slit open if they were pulled but for now, Serenai left the slit closed.

Just knowing she was so exposed was enough to make her shiver. In the Convent wearing anything even half as revealing as this would have gotten her thrown out at once.

But I’m not at the Convent anymore, she reminded herself. And I’m not going to stay ignorant just because that’s how they raised me!

Just as she was trying to convince herself that she absolutely wasn’t ashamed of what she was wearing, Brax came back in the room carrying something. When he saw what she had on, his pale eyes went wide and he gave a long, low whistle.

“Oh, don’t! I know I look shameful!” Serenai tried to cover herself with her hands and arms, her cheeks heating with a mortified blush.

“Hey, no baby—don’t do that!” Brax came to her at once and put one big hand on her shoulder. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have whistled. It’s just—you look so fucking gorgeous with all your curves on display. I couldn’t help myself.”

“I…I do?” Serenai looked at him uncertainly.

“Yes, baby—you do.” He stroked her arm and, as always, she found that his warm touch soothed her. “Look, I got what I was looking for. Come on, let’s get settled.”

He went to sit on the bed, leaning against the headboard with a pillow behind his back. Then he patted the space between his legs.

“Come on—come sit with me.”

He was still wearing just his long black sleep trousers and Serenai couldn’t deny that the idea of leaning back against his warm, bare chest was appealing. More and more she liked touching him and being close to him—he made her feel so safe.

She climbed onto the bed and moved to sit between his legs, just as he had asked.

Brax put his arms around her and held her close for a long moment.

“Good girl,” he murmured in her ear. “Just relax and we’ll have a little anatomy lesson.”

Serenai took a deep, trembling breath and did her best to do as he said. It helped that she felt completely surrounded by his big, muscular body—and that his deep voice was so calm and soothing.

“All right now?” Brax asked her. “Ready to start?”

“Yes.” She nodded. “I…I guess so.”

“Good. Now look.”

And he released something from his hand. It looked to Serenai like some kind of large, mechanical insect. It had a long, silver body and delicate wings made of golden lace. It buzzed around their heads and a moment later, she was watching a projection of herself and Brax—almost like a mirror—which had appeared a few feet in front of them.

“Oh—what’s that?” she exclaimed and saw the surprise on her own face.

“A projector bug,” he told her. “I saw it in your mother’s things. It allows you to take pictures of hard-to-reach areas. But in this case, I’m going to use it to help us get a better view of you.”

“Of me?” Serenai squeaked. She wasn’t sure if she liked this idea or not.

But Brax seemed unperturbed.

“Yes, you. Look at yourself—really look,” he urged her. “You’re fucking gorgeous, baby. Take in your beauty.”

Serenai allowed herself to look at the projected image of herself. She saw a girl with warm brown skin wearing a gauzy red outfit that showed all her forbidden areas. And yes, she admitted, the girl had a pretty face, but also her body was on display in a very distracting way.

“I just…I can’t believe I’m wearing this,” she said at last. “You can see all my forbidden areas!”
