“What was the name of the woman you all went to see tonight?” he asks, looking a bit dangerous.

“Andrea Cole. Why?” I answer, giving him a strange look.

“That’s what I fucking thought,” he snarls.

“What’s up? What’s the need for swearing and the late-night visit?” Demi asks.

“Ms. Cole’s on her way here,” he answers, running his hands through his hair.

“What?” My mouth falls open. “How do you know that?”

“She called me.”

I’m on my feet and in his face. “Why the fuck did she call you?” I’m instantly ready for a fight. It’s after one in the morning. And how the fuck does she have his number?

“Lena gave her my number in case of an emergency. Ms. Cole’s stalker was provoked to act for some reason.” He raises his brow, giving me a questioning stare.

I slap my hand to my forehead. “Shit. That bastard across from me,” I mutter to myself, thinking about that fucker who couldn’t stop staring at me. I knew he had a problem, but I wasn’t sure why. If only I’d acted then instead of letting it go. Damn it.

“What do you mean?”

“Where is she? Who is bringing her here?”

“The cops. She’s got police protection for now, but we’re getting her out of here. Now—what about the bastard across from you?” he asks.

I sigh and then say, “He was glaring at me throughout the concert. I wanted to confront him, but I didn’t want to ruin the night. He left right before the lights came up, but I thought he had little dick energy or some shit. Jealous that I had Demi at my side or something. I didn’t know the guy and hadn’t even run into him.”

“Well, you had something he wanted, or so he believed.”

“Damn it. I’ll kill the bastard myself.”

“No, you won’t.” He says it, but there’s a slight upturn of his lips that tells me to shut up because we most certainly will destroy this fucker one way or another, but we don’t need any ears overhearing it.

“I’m just pissed. When is she going to get here?” I can’t wait to see her and let her know she’s safe with me. We’ll protect her, always.

“We’re going to bring her back to Steeleville tonight with Beast. You are going to stay here until tomorrow.”

“What?” I stare at him like he’s fucking nuts.

“Don’t start with me. You have work to do. We brought your laptop earlier like you asked when you wanted to research your girl, so you have work to do on this asshole. I’m sure you can get that footage and scope out that prick before the cops can.” My bag is right there, so I grab it and open it up.

“It might take me a bit of work, but I’ll get it. Still, I need to see her.”

“Hell, your head is the one on the platter. If she’s right, he’s after you too.”

“I’m not worried about the pussy,” I say, keeping my focus on hacking into their computer system. It’s not going to be easy when all I can think about is her safety. This isn’t a five-minute job. Even if I get in and get the footage, I still need to run a facial recognition software and hope there’s a connection somewhere.

“We know that, but never underestimate the crazy of the cowardice.”

“You got that right.”

“You can’t see her,” Boomer says, staring at me with a warning that dares me to disobey his command.

“How the fuck…”

He takes a deep breath and then sits on the chair directly across from me. “Come on. I’ve been married for years, and I’d give anything to see my wife every single damn day. I get it more than anyone. Everyone here understands. They’re leaving their women at home to do this favor, so they get it more than you know. Now, go back to your vigil and stay put. We need to make sure she’s secure and away from the cops.”

I set my laptop down on the side table next to my chair and stand up, walking up to Beast. Staring at my longtime friend, I say, “Keep her safe, Beast.”

“Of course, Cyber.” He extends his hand, shaking mine while staring me in the face. “You know I will.”

“You know he’s not going to let anything happen to her. We’ve always got each other’s backs,” Boomer reminds me. Of course I know that to be true, so I calm down.

I nod and give my brothers a one-armed hug before returning to Demi. Everything in me wants to go to Andrea, but I know better than to risk it. Her life is in danger, and the fucker is probably watching. If he spots me, then everything could go to hell in a heartbeat.

****

It’s four in the morning when they bring us news that Asher’s finally awake and has pulled through the surgery. The news is an instant relief for all of us. Demi throws her arms around Ghost and then me. “Thank you for staying here all night. I know you wanted to be with her.”
