“Who did this?” Morgan is furious and clutching his daughter as if someone might take her again.

“Los Tres Colombianos.”

At Ace’s answer, all the color drains from Morgan’s face. “Seriously?”

“Yes.” Ace lays out the deal we struck with Arturo, explaining that our port was now the go-between for their business arrangement.

Angry now, Morgan shakes his head and damn near pushes Aria away. “No. I do business with the Iron Kings. They are the go-between for my business with Arturo.”

“The Iron Kings no longer exists. Each of their members met an unfortunate end,” I tell the man with a smile. “So, you deal with us, or you lose Arturo’s business altogether. That message is straight from the old man’s mouth.”

“Feel free to call him to confirm,” Ace offers. “We don’t traffic in humans, so I’ll tell you like I told Arturo. Try to fuck with that, and there will be consequences,” he says and slides a threatening glance toward the man’s biggest weakness.

“Understood,” Morgan says, nodding his head, but he’s angry and grinding his teeth. “I don't like that type of behavior anyway.”

“Good.” Ace extends his hand, and Morgan reaches for it. “The first shipment will be here any day now.”

“Seriously, Daddy? Don’t get mixed up in this,” Aria whines. “Just pay them and be done with it.” She steps forward, but Lucky pulls her back and whispers something in her ear that stops her cold.

Morgan doesn’t even spare his daughter a glance as he takes Ace’s hand and shakes it, sealing the deal and putting us one step closer to vengeance.

“Don’t come to my business again. My men at the port will deal with the shipments. The less we’re seen together, the better it is for all of us.”

“Whatever,” Ace says with a shrug. “Don’t fuck us, and we won’t fuck you,” he threatens and turns toward the door.

I catch up with him in the driveway, noticing his bike beside mine. “Lucky is stepping up.”

“Yeah, we’ll take a vote on patching him in soon.”

I nod, happy to know we’re on the same page, at least when it comes to what matters. My back pocket buzzes, and I know it’s Valentina.

“Hey, man. I need to take care of something. I’ll meet up with you later.”

Ace stares at me for a long time, like he’s trying to see my fucking thoughts, but eventually, he nods, starts his bike, and leaves.

I pull out my phone and read the message. She name-drops some designer store in Beverly Hills where she’s shopping—alone—and asks me to meet her there.

I take off on my bike with a smile because I have a much better plan in mind.

CHAPTER TEN

Valentina

Instead of sitting in my gilded cage all day, I go shopping. And what better place for shopping than Rodeo Drive?

I don’t need to buy anything but staying in the hotel is stifling. There’s nothing to do but eavesdrop on my father and brothers to see what they are up to and wait for…nothing.

I consider a purple dress that fits my curves like spray paint and hand it to the salesgirl on my way to try on a black number that will drive Jake to the moon and back.

A gentle rap reverberates against the fitting room door, and I inhale sharply. “Just a minute!” I slip the dress over me before I pull the door open a crack. I’m ready to scold the intruder for the interruptions, but my breath catches in my throat when I see his face. “J-Jake?”

He puts a finger to his lips, “Shhh..." and steps inside, his voice low and husky. “Hey there. Lookin’ good, babe.” Then, in a hushed but authoritative tone, he says, “Take it off.”

If he was any other man, I might have resisted, but his deep voice weakens my resolve, and my heart flutters. I turn to give him my back. “Unzip me?”

His knuckles brush against my flushed skin as he tugs the hidden zipper down to my waist. “Damn, girl,” he breathes.

I giggle and turn, and when my gaze meets his, it is dark and intense. Hot as fuck. I shove the dress down my legs and step out of it, standing before him in nothing but a black lace thong.

His body tenses, and his breath rushes through his parted lips.

“You're exquisite,” he whispers, a hint of awe in his voice. He pulls me closer, the heat of his body pressing against me. I feel his hands slide over my curves, my skin alive with electricity. I gasp as Jake grazes my nipples.

“Thank you, Jake. Please,” I beg in a low voice. I reach for him, my hands thirsty for him. Wrapping my fingers around his fullness, I stroke and squeeze softly.

“Temptress,” he whispers against my neck when I jump up and wrap my legs around his waist.

“You came to me, remember?”

“I do,” he grunts, lifting me by my ass before he quietly lowers me onto his thick cock.
