I swallowed hard, my gaze going around the table.
None of the men contradicted her.
I swallowed back the tears and said, “I’ve tried. Every advance, he sidesteps it. When I was about to ask him to stay last night, he told me that he didn’t want me around him anymore. I showed up with breakfast at his door this morning after Holt’s chiropractic appointment, and he didn’t answer. I’ve went to his office, and his assistant told me that he was busy. I’ve even called my dad to see if he could get Copper to talk to me, and my dad said no. I don’t know how to reach out to him. When I got here, I spotted him immediately, and he left. I think that’s a pretty clear indication that he doesn’t want me around.”
“Just start stripping naked,” Searcy suggested. “Preferably in a crowd. He’ll have no other recourse but to gather you up. Then you can attack him.”
There were chuckles, but no disagreements.
“I’ll…” I started to say I’ll do it, but the door to the back room opened and Copper walked out.
That’s when I really looked at him.
He looked haggard and tired.
Like he was breaking apart at the seams.
“Y’all might want to start looking away,” I suggested.
Keely grinned.
Searcy walked to her man and covered his eyes.
“Not a chance,” Webber said.
“Pig,” Silver snorted.
Webber leered at her, giving her a look that made me want to ask questions, but the man that I was in love with was currently hustling his ass out of the room.
That didn’t mean that he wasn’t fully aware of me as he did.
I ripped my shirt off, and there were swift inhales from all over.
I was proud to say I was well endowed now that I was breastfeeding.
I had breasts galore, and they were spilling out of the tiny ass bra that I was wearing.
“Just going for it, huh?” Searcy grinned.
Stomps headed my way, and I reached behind me to start the zip on my skirt when strong arms swallowed me whole.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Copper snarled.
I lowered the zipper, despite his arms now securely locking me in, and said, “Getting you to talk to me.”
“I don’t want to talk to you!” he snapped.
“That’s too damn bad!” I bellowed. “Because I want to talk to you!”
Copper’s shoulder met my belly, and soon I was being physically carried out of the bar.
I didn’t make eye contact with anyone else as we left, heading back into the room he’d come out of earlier on his way out the door.
He got inside and he slammed the door closed with his foot, then dropped me down hard onto my feet.
I jolted, and felt my breasts do the same.
His eyes went to them for half a breath before my shirt was ripped out of my hands.
When he started to yank it back over my head, I said, “I don’t want it on! I want the rest of it off!”
“What…”
I escaped him, moving behind the sofa that was in the middle of the room—so random—and glared.
“Will you listen to me?” I asked.
“Not like that, I won’t.”
I reached for my bra snap between my breasts and released it.
He hissed in a breath, and his eyes were locked completely on me.
“What the fuck are you doing?” he whispered.
I reached for the zipper at my waist and slid that down next.
“It’s apparent that we need to get a few things straight,” I said as I stepped out of my skirt, leaving me in nothing but a thong.
I would not get embarrassed by my new mom-bod.
Then again, the way Copper was looking at me right now, it was doubtful I’d ever be self-conscious seeing as he looked like he wanted to bend me over the couch and fuck me.
Maybe that was exactly what we needed.
“Either you fuck me right now, or I’m walking out this door completely naked,” I ordered.
Clearly, an ultimatum wasn’t going to work because he glared hard and said, “You couldn’t get out of here even if you tried.”
I took a threatening step forward and he moved to block the door.
I saw the error of my ways then.
He wouldn’t make the move.
I would have to.
I walked toward him, and he stiffened.
“Let me ask you something, Copper,” I breathed.
He swallowed hard. “What?”
“What makes you think I care about anything but you?” I asked. “I don’t care about what people think. I don’t care about what people say. I don’t care about who turns our way. I don’t care if you took that man to your clubhouse last night and beat the snot out of him. I don’t care if you blow this entire world up, as long as Holt and I are with you. I. Don’t. Care.”
He looked away, not meeting my eyes.
“I love you, Copper.” I ran a hand up the length of his chest. “I have for a long, long time.”
