So, I’ve just tied myself into a relationship with the ex-boyfriend of someone who knows the man I’m trying to get money from for my business. What in the hell just happened here?

“That’d be great, Steve,” Peter replies. “I’ll talk to you soon, okay, Gare? I’ll call you. There are a few things I want to talk to you about.”

“Okay,” Gary replies, still stiff as a door beside me.

Steven, Evan, and Peter walk away. Hayden chuckles, pats Gary on the shoulder, and then gives us space by leaving.

“You can loosen up a little you know? You kiss me like a man starving for my lips—fucking hot, by the way—and now you’re standing here like someone shoved something up your ass and not in a way you enjoy.”

“Excuse me if I’m trying to figure out what in the hell just happened!”

We must look at least a little suspicious. We’re standing together awkwardly, my arm around him, both of us facing forward and speaking quietly out of the sides of our mouths.

“I kissed the hell out of you—and you kissed the hell out of me right back, I might add—after hearing you tell your ex how good I am in the sack. Things went downhill from there.”

“Oh, fuck. Peter…he thinks…” He seriously sounds like he’s on the verge of passing out.

Gary tries to pull away, but I don’t let him get far. I lock his hand with mine and pull him so he’s facing me. “Play it off for now, please. We can figure the rest of it out later. This is important to me.” Fuck, if I don’t hate admitting that, but it’s true. Whatever it takes to convince Steven he can trust me, I’m willing to do.

Gary opens his mouth to reply, but Derek’s voice cuts him off. “Christ on a cracker. Turn my back for five minutes and look what happens. You guys know you owe me one threesome with you.”

“Derek, now is not the time,” Gary rushes out.

“Fine. At least let me watch, but that’s my final offer.” He steps up to me, lets his hand roam down my chest, traces the lines of my abdominal muscles with his finger. “Fucking hot. You’re welcome, Gary.”

With a parting grin, Derek walks away and the two of us are alone again.

Gary

I study Travis’s torso of fit, toned muscles. So many lines, so many curves—all of which, given the opportunity, I would eagerly worship with my tongue. The thick veins in his biceps, obliques, and shoulders push forward as they struggle to be contained by his beautiful, smooth flesh.

The fact that I can appreciate his body after everything that was just thrown at me speaks to how hot he is.

He narrows his eyes as he looks at me like he’s deep in thought.

I’m glad one of us can think right now because I’m still reeling from the thrill of that kiss. Excited as it made me, it also terrifies me. Our lip-lock knocked the thoughts right out of my head, and something within me took over—something hungry for wild, uninhibited sex. I wanted to fuck Travis right then and there. Forgot about everything, even my d-bag ex and his new boyfriend. I was consumed in the moment, not caring why Travis was kissing me, only that he was. The taste of whiskey on his tongue, the sensation of his breath rushing across my face, and his hot touch were the only things that mattered to me.

I’m sure it was only a few moments, but it felt like we were lost in each other for hours. Well, I was lost in him. Even as he stands before me, thinking through what just happened, I know I was the one who was blown away. This is likely just another day for a sexy-as-sin guy like him.

“We’re in a bit of a jam here, Hot Ass,” he says, moving even closer, his torso rubbing up against mine, his lips inches from my face. I could easily lean forward and kiss him again, so I’m forced to fight every impulse in me to take advantage of the opportunity.

Act like a fucking human, Gary!

“Who was that guy you were talking to?” I ask. That came out way more defensively than I meant because there are too many questions running through my brain for me to process at once.

“A guy who can get me the cash to make my dreams come true. And a guy who thinks I might not be reliable enough to make good business decisions because I don’t have much of a track record with anything long-term. He seems to think being able to hold down a man means something about my skills as a businessman. Don’t get me wrong. I am good at holding down a man.”

I’m blushing again. Fuck him for oozing sex and charisma.
