I wanted to launch at her and Hunter sensed it. He put his hand on my chest. “Let her go, Blayze. You know she isn’t worth it.”

We all watched Lindsay walk out of the bar. Betty Jane turned back to me. “I’m sorry, Blayze. I had no idea she was back in town, and Hank is new at the door. I’ll be sure to let them all know she isn’t welcome in here.”

I pressed my hand to the back of my neck to rub at the instant tension there. “No worries, Betty Jane. Thanks for stepping in.”

She smiled and tossed a hand towel over her shoulder before heading back to the bar.

A memory flashed through my mind, and I closed my eyes to force it away.

“What about Lane?” I asked Lindsay as she pulled her shirt over her head and tossed it onto the floor.

“Lane and I are done, Blayze. He left me a few weeks ago. It’s you I want. It’s you I need.”

“This is just about fucking, right?” I asked, my voice slightly slurred from too much alcohol.

“I’m not looking for anything else. I want you, and I know you want me too,” Lindsay said as she walked over and straddled me. “Just like last time. It doesn’t mean anything. I want you to ride me like you ride those bulls, Blayze. Will you do that for me?”

Smiling, I reached up and unclasped her bra. “Only if you ride me like you ride those horses.”

With a laugh, she leaned down and brushed her lips over mine. “Deal.”

Hunter put his hand on my shoulder and gave it a squeeze, pulling me from the memory. “If it helps, I think Morgan kept Georgiana pretty entertained. I doubt she saw anything.”

My eyes darted across the bar as I scanned the dance floor. “Good. The last thing we need is her putting her goddamn nose in my business.”

Hunter frowned. “Blayze, what is it that you have against Georgiana? I honestly can’t tell if you like her or not.”

I swallowed hard. “I’m hitting the bathroom, then I’m heading home. Make sure Georgie gets back to my place, okay?”

He nodded. “Will do, big bro.”

With a smile, I hit him on the side of the arm. “Thanks, I owe you one.”

“That’s what brothers are for, right? To save you from crazy exes.”

“She isn’t an ex.”

His smile faded. “Right.”

Chapter Eight

GEORGIANA

Morgan and Rose had done a great job of trying to keep my eyes away from the area where Blayze was talking to a drop-dead gorgeous woman. She had long, curly blonde hair and was dressed in a skin-tight dress that left nothing to the imagination. When he started for what I was guessing were the bathrooms and she followed, my heart sank like a piece of lead. She looked familiar, but for the life of me, I couldn’t place it.

They stopped at the entrance of the hall. When a nearby young guy got Rose and Morgan’s attention, I turned so I could watch. Another guy walked up to me so it was easy to pretend I was dancing with him while I watched the scene play out.

Whoever she was, it wasn’t a friendly encounter. Hunter walked over, followed by an older woman—the bartender I’d seen earlier. The blonde woman turned on her heels and marched out of the bar, a smug smile on her face. Who was she? I’d met her before, I just knew it.

I danced two more songs before I tapped out and let the younger girls keep dancing. As I made my way off the dance floor, a man and woman who had been sitting at the same table as Blayze, smiled and waved me over. I ordered a bottled water from the waitress and walked over to them.

“You probably don’t remember us,” the young woman said.

I shook my head. “I’m sorry, I don’t.”

She laughed. “I’m Mindy, one of Blayze’s best friends. This is Ryan.”

I turned to see the handsome guy sitting where Blayze had been. He shot me a big smile, and I instantly remembered him. He had the most amazing smile.

“Ryan!”

He laughed and hugged me. “That’s me.” When he stepped back, he gave me a quick once over. “You’ve grown up, Georgiana.”

“So have you.” Laughing, I pointed at the empty chair next to them.

“Please, sit,” Mindy stated.

“Wow, I can’t believe it,” I said as I sat. “I haven’t see y’all in…years!”

“I think we were sixteen.” Mindy smiled.

“Something like that.” I returned her smile. When the waitress handed me a bottle of water, I gave her money and a tip. Then practically downed the water.

“Hard to keep up with the younger ones,” Mindy said with a wink.

“Yes, it sure is. I mean, Morgan is only six years younger than me, but after tonight I feel old.”

I took another drink and glanced around. “Blayze dancing?”
