“It is,” he agreed.

Rays of sunlight seemed to burst from behind the mountains, and I stared at it in awe.

“Oh, Blayze. Look at how…”

My voice trailed off when I turned to see Blayze down on one knee, holding an open ring box in his hand. I covered my mouth with both hands and dropped down onto my knees, feeling a rush of sobs break free.

Tears formed in Blayze’s eyes, and he had to clear his throat to speak.

“Georgiana Elizabeth Crenshaw, I would like to spend the rest of my life watching sunrises and sunsets with you. And maybe I’m asking way too soon, but I’ve waited long enough to make you my partner in this life. Will you marry me?”

With my entire body shaking and tears streaming down my face, I launched myself into Blayze. He caught me as I wrapped my arms around him and cried. He held onto me tightly and told me he loved me. I couldn’t stop crying.

I pulled back and our eyes locked. I cupped his face with my shaking hands and said the words that naturally came.

“I love you so much! Yes! Yes, I’ll marry you!”

Blayze blinked to hold back his own tears and he pulled me back into him. I let out a rather loud yell of happiness while he laughed, or maybe cried. I wasn’t entirely sure. All I knew was I had never been so happy in my life.

After what felt like forever, Blayze stood, bringing me up with him. He smiled, placed his finger on my chin, and lifted my eyes to meet his.

“May I put the ring on now?”

I gasped. “Oh my gosh! Yes!”

Looking down at the open box, I felt another onslaught of tears come on. A stunning oval-shaped diamond that sat in what looked like a white gold or platinum band glimmered up at me. The colors of the sky seemed to reflect in the diamond as I looked at Blayze.

“This is beautiful.”

“It was my mother’s. I mean, my biological mom, Kaci. My dad gave it to me the other night when I told him I was going to ask you to marry me. He’d been holding onto it for me for when the time came.”

I wiped a tear off my cheek and slowly shook my head. “Oh, Blayze.”

He took the ring out, and I quickly removed my glove. We both looked down at my hand, then at the glove, and laughed at the same time.

“Will the glove fit back on over the ring?” he asked.

“I think so!”

He slipped it on, then brought my hand up to his mouth and kissed the back of it. “I swear to you, Georgie, I’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy every single day for the rest of our lives.”

My stomach dipped and turned as I stared down at the ring on my finger.

“It’s a perfect fit,” I whispered, glancing up at him.

Winking, he replied, “I always thought so.”

Epilogue

MORGAN

Sophomore Year of College — Two Years From Present Day

“This Halloween party sucks. We should have stayed at our dorm and studied like I suggested,” Krista said as she glanced around the room.

We were at one of the frat houses for what everyone said was the most epic Halloween party on campus. So far we’d been hit on by nearly every male in the room. I watched more guys take girls up those stairs than I cared to count.

“We need to find Heather, and then we can leave.”

Krista rolled her eyes. “She’s probably in some room with her dress up to her waist and some guy in her—”

“Krista!” I squealed.

She gave me a befuddled look. “What? You know I’m right.”

I laughed, then stood on my toes in an attempt to look over everyone.

“Would you like to dance?” a voice said from behind me. Turning to look over my shoulder, I couldn’t help but smile at the guy’s costume.

“A skeleton ringmaster. I love it.”

He smiled back.

“Whoever did your face makeup should be given some kind of award,” Krista stated.

“Thank you,” he said, his voice sounding a bit muffled. “Dance?”

He held his hand out to me, and I looked over at Krista. “For fuck’s sake, go dance,” she said. “At least one of us needs to have some fun. I’ll go find the whore.”

“Krista!” I said with a pleading look.

“Fine.” She rolled her eyes. “I’ll go find the tramp.”

I let out an exasperated sigh as my best friend turned on her heels and headed up the steps in search of the third person in our trio of friends.

Turning back to the stranger, I placed my hand in his. We weaved our way through the crowd of people on the makeshift dance floor. The frat house was in a historical home right off campus, and it looked like we were in the old ballroom.

The skeleton drew me to him, and I cleared my throat and took a step back. It was a little bit too close for my comfort.
