“Michael!” I grabbed his shoulders, holding on for dear life as my orgasm ripped through me. I did my best to stay quiet, but there was no way to know for sure. I didn’t know who or where I was as shock waves of ecstasy rocketed over and through me with enough ferocity to nearly buck me off the vanity.

“Fuck!” Boone’s growl told me he was right there with me. He slammed into me one last time, and then there was nothing but a hazy cloud of aftershocks. Each time I shuddered around him, he pressed soft kisses on my cheeks and throat, still holding me tightly, whispering how beautiful and sexy I was.

I wanted to make a joke, say something lighthearted and funny, anything that would ease this intensity that was starting to overwhelm me.

But I was too worked up.

Worked over.

Spent.

I couldn’t move, my limbs like jelly as I rested against him.

“You okay?” he asked after a few minutes.

“My body and soul temporarily separated,” I murmured. “Just waiting for everything to come together again.”

He chuckled, running his hands up and down my back. “You should wear lingerie more often.”

“Okay.”

He slowly started to pull out and we both froze as what we’d done seemed to hit us.

“Oh shit, Jolie…I didn’t use—” He swallowed as his guilty gaze met mine.

“It’s okay,” I said quickly, snapping out of my orgasm-induced trance. “I’m on the pill.”

“God, I’ve never done that before. I’m really sorry. We should have talked about it before going without a condom.”

“It’s fine. Really. I trust you.”

And I did.

Every moment we spent together was better than the last. No matter what happened going forward, I had no regrets.

“You sure you’re okay?” he asked, his eyes searching my face worriedly.

“Yes.” I reached up and put my hands on either side of his face. “I would tell you if I wasn’t. Now, you want to take a quick shower?”

“With you?” He circled my waist with his hands. “Absolutely.”

I got to my feet and slowly tugged the teddy the rest of the way off.

“You’re wearing far too many clothes,” I murmured, starting to unbutton his shirt.

“Then undress me.”

“What do you think I’m doing?”

“You know I’m going to fuck you again in the shower.”

“I was hoping so.” I pushed the shirt off his shoulders.

“Does this mean we’re done with condoms?”

“Uh-huh.” I dropped to my knees, pleased to see him already beginning to get hard again.

“I thought we were taking a shower?”

“We are.” I gripped his erection in my hand and slowly pumped up and down a few times. “I just need to do something first.”

His head fell back against the wall as he groaned. “Fuck. Yeah.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Boone

“Do you have any threes?” I asked.

I studied Jolie’s face as she considered her hand of cards, Joey giggling from his seat next to her. She bit her lip, which sent a shot of arousal through me, her attempt at a thoughtful expression looking lustful.

Which was becoming a problem. She looked hot fresh out of bed in the morning, wearing sweats at the ice rink, even bundled up in a coat and hat. Every time I looked at her, I wanted to touch her. And since we kept things tame when Joey was awake, I spent a lot of time wanting.

“Go fish,” she finally said.

I narrowed my eyes at her and gave Joey a questioning look. “You think I can trust her? I don’t know, I think she might be holding out on me.”

Jolie dropped her jaw, acting appalled. “Me? I play by the rules, Mr. Boone.”

“You can’t trust her,” Joey said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

“If you see any threes come out of her hand later, you let me know,” I said, running my hand over the pile of cards in the middle of my dining table.

He pointed two fingers at his eyes and then at her, which he’d learned from me doing it to him, and Jolie threw her head back with laughter.

“I think you’ve got a mini-me,” she said.

“What’s that?” Joey asked.

She ruffled his hair. “It means you remind me a lot of your uncle.”

The doorbell rang and Joey grinned. “Is that the pizza?”

“Probably.”

I set my cards down on the table and gave Jolie a warning look. “No cheating while I’m gone.”

She scoffed. “I don’t have to cheat to beat you. I’m 3–0, fair and square.”

When I answered the door, the delivery driver passed me a stack of five boxes, saying, “Thanks for the tip, man. Appreciate it.”

I’d tipped him in the app I ordered from, and I nodded as I took the boxes. “Hey, thanks, man. Have a good one.”

When I walked into the kitchen, Joey’s eyes widened. “That’s all for us?”

“Yep. You like cheese, Jolie likes veggie, and I like supreme. And I like leftover pepperoni pizza.”

Jolie gave me a look. “So you don’t like supreme when it’s leftover?”
