“I plead the Fifth.” If she relived that night anymore, she was at risk of ruining her current pair of panties.

“Answer my question,” he insisted.

As she considered the choices, she stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, her dramatic makeup nearly finished, except for lipstick, which she’d apply right before he arrived to pick her up. “I already know what it’s like for you to smack my ass, so I’d have to go with pulling my hair.”

“How about smacking your ass while pulling your hair?” he suggested.

She groaned. “You have to stop.”

His chuckle was low and wicked. “One more. Would you rather have your hands tied during sex or wear a blindfold during sex?”

She plugged in her curling wand so she could get to work on her hair, which she’d decided to leave down tonight. “Is that all you think about?” she asked, smiling. “Sex?”

“With you? Yes,” he replied. “It’s been a week since I’ve had my hands on your body or my tongue in your pussy or my cock buried deep inside you while you come.”

Her breath caught and her face flamed.

“So, hands tied during sex or a blindfold?” he went on, as if he hadn’t just lit a torch to her body with those words.

“Which would you rather have me choose?” she asked, curious to know his preference.

“Hands tied,” he replied without hesitating. “Which gives me all the control so I can fuck you any way I want while you beg me to let you come.”

She groaned. “You’re distracting me and I need to go, and don’t you have to get ready for tonight, too?”

“I’m a guy,” he said with a laugh. “I’m already showered, shaved, and just need to put on my tux.”

“That’s so not fair,” she muttered and shook her head. “I’ll see you soon, and keep your dirty which would you rather questions to yourself this evening and behave,” she said with a chuckle in her voice.

“I make no promises.”

Still smiling, she said goodbye. Jessica disconnected the call, then started curling her hair, a task that took her a good forty minutes because of the length. Yes, she could afford to hire a glam squad, but having a team of hair and beauty experts wasn’t her thing. She knew what she liked, what worked best for her features, and she actually enjoyed the process of primping. She found it relaxing, which was what she needed to be before he arrived to pick her up.

She’d attended dozens of charity events and fundraisers over the years, and as comfortable as Derek made her feel, tonight’s formal gala came with its own set of concerns, along with a bit of anxiety because Claire would be there. Jessica didn’t think the other woman would say or do anything to make a scene—Claire preferred to show the hateful side of her personality in private while presenting herself as the height of decorum in social situations.

But this was her first outing with Derek, as a couple, and with his mother still pressuring him to give Claire another chance, Jessica knew there might be tension between them all. But she refused to let anyone see her anxiety or that she was anything other than confident in her relationship with Derek.

At five in the afternoon, Derek and his driver arrived to pick her up. It would take about an hour to get back to the city and to the hotel where the event was taking place. As soon as she opened the door, Derek’s gaze took her in. His lips parted in awe, and his green eyes darkened as he gave her a slow, head-to-toe perusal. While he wore the same tailored tuxedo from the auction—and looked beyond handsome, like her own James Bond fantasy come to life—she’d chosen a newly designed gown from her own upcoming holiday collection, a slate-blue dress in a shimmering silk fabric that tastefully skimmed her curves and made her feel like a goddess.

“Holy . . . wow,” he said huskily as he took her hand and placed a kiss on her knuckles. “You look absolutely stunning.”

She smiled, warmed by the compliment and pleased with the desire in his gaze, which made the hours of primping worth it. “Thank you.”

He exhaled what seemed like a tortured breath. “It’s taking everything in me not to push you back inside your house and ravish you here and now. But I don’t think you’d appreciate me smearing your lipstick, wrinkling your dress, or ruining your hair with my hands.”

She laughed, trying to ignore the arousal already thrumming through her, just from his words alone. “No, but I appreciate the sentiment.”

“Just know, later tonight, all bets are off.” He gave her a hooded look and a small smirk. “This night can’t be over fast enough.”

She couldn’t agree more, but Derek had an obligation to fulfill to his parents, and so off they went. She sat in the back of the Town Car with Derek, and their conversation was easy and effortless as they talked about his newest acquisition and Blackout Media’s plans for MegaReelz. Then, he gave her his undivided attention as he asked about updates with her lingerie launch and the details of her lunch with Belle Demoiselle that week. His interest was genuine, and while Jessica always had Avery to talk to about business, having Derek listen and offer advice when asked was something she truly enjoyed and appreciated.
