Not that I would ever admit that to him.

So I do what I know to get out of this situation. His face is close, and I lean forward before I can talk myself out of it. And he, being absolutely arrogant, leans closer, thinking I’m going to kiss him.

Ha.

Not happening.

Opening my mouth, I snap it shut when I reach his cheek and bite down. Hard. Not enough to tear his skin off, but enough that he gets it and moves back.

He grunts, and I feel him harden beneath me.

What the fuck?

Crue pulls back and I can see my teeth imprinted on his face, my pink lipstick also smeared on his cheek.

“Feisty little princess, aren’t we?” He smirks, and that only makes me madder. I go in for another bite, this time aiming for his lips—stupid, I know—but they’re directly in front of me. If he’s going to treat me like a caged wild animal, then that’s how I’m going to act.

My phone starts ringing, but we ignore it as he drops me and steps back. I almost fall forward but manage to catch myself. As soon as I’m free, I wipe my mouth and glare up at him. “I hate you,” I growl, and he simply smirks.

“That’s okay. They say hate sex is amazing. Would you care to try that out right here?”

“Fuck you,” I hurl the words out before I turn and march off.

I hear him chuckle as I leave.

And all that does is make me want to go back and knee him again right between the legs.

Asshole.

CHAPTER 7

Crue

“Did she just bite you?” Dominic asks as he studies me.

The damn woman ran off, and I stood there, wondering if I should follow. But I’ve already chased her once tonight, and even that’s testing my limits. And besides, there was something delicious in her fleeing—I will catch her later like a game of cat and mouse—even if she had drawn a little blood.

“Were you watching?” I ask. I told him to stay in the car. Dominic obviously didn’t listen.

“Of course. Wait until I tell Angel.” He laughs as we walk back to the car. “Oh, by the way, Angel still wants to visit Rya. So just let her.”

“Angel can wait,” I tell him. “I don’t need her ruining this.”

“I’m pretty sure you’re doing a great job on your own,” Dominic adds, and I want to punch him in the face. He holds up his hands and shakes his head. “How long do you plan to live here? It’s already been years.”

“I don’t plan to return to Italy,” I inform him, and his eyes widen.

“You have to.”

“One day. Maybe.”

“The families—” he starts.

I cut him off. “I have the power. You know this. If one of the families chooses to go against that, you know my orders.”

“Kill them,” he replies.

“Exactly.”

“You’re stirring up trouble here with the gangs.” Dominic pulls open the car door and gets in, and I climb into the passenger seat as he starts the car.

“Trouble is what I’m here for. Some of them have had their seats here because of who their families are. Some aren’t worth it, so I’m taking it back.”

“You already have most of it back.”

“Not all. Some think it’s smart to disobey me. Or they try to manipulate it their way.” I drop my head from side to side, cracking it.

“You killed all their bosses…” He pauses. “I think they get the message.”

I press my thumb to my cheek and draw back smears of pink lipstick, almost impressed. I didn’t think the princess would be willing to get her hands dirty.

“What would you do if someone killed me?” I ask.

“I would hunt them down and destroy them,” Dominic replies without hesitation.

“Exactly. Some of these families have been raised with the same values, granted they adapted to the American culture. But family? Well, they believe in that, at the very least. And I just tore it all open.” I’ve been here a few years, taking back our family’s power. Many years ago, before I was born, my great-grandfather sent family here. They settled in New York and were given money to take over the streets and businesses. But somewhere along the way they became greedy and thought they could take over all of it without any backlash.

Little did they know, I’m hungrier for it than all of them combined.

I hold all the titles.

They are passed down through generations.

I was trained from a young age to be ruthless.

And ruthless is what I will be.

Even against a little princess.

CHAPTER 8

Rya

Dear Miss Ricci

Do you think you would bite like that in the bedroom?

Reply.

Crue

For fuck’s sake.

Members of the board stare back at me expectantly as I put my phone away. I’ve received emails from Crue since this morning and immediately deleted them. I’ve been in meetings all day. It’s an absolute shit show. With no official manager, other board members have stepped in with how we should manage the press and who should temporarily be in charge.
