As soon as I felt my balls draw up, I reached down to stroke him off. It only took one pull before we were both crying out and coming. His release covered my hand and his belly while I pressed even deeper inside of him and groaned against the side of his head.

When my body finally stopped jerking with aftershocks, I pulled back enough to glance down at Parrish.

He looked like he’d just smoked weed and had a two-hour massage. He grinned at me like a happy drunk.

“Feeling good?” I teased softly.

“’S fine.”

I snorted and pulled away as carefully as I could. “Good to know. I’ll mark you down for a ‘fine’ and see if we can’t work up to a ‘slightly improved’ next time.”

He giggled. I looked back over my shoulder after dropping the condom in the trash can. “Why are you laughing?”

“You said next time again. That means it’s kind of like a promise. I don’t think you meant to do that.”

I stepped into the bathroom and wet a cloth to clean him up with. When I returned to see him starfished out in the center of my bed, my chest tightened. I realized I was going to have to find some way of keeping him there. I wanted him to sleep next to me in that big bed for the foreseeable future.

“Baby, I most certainly did mean to do that.” I began wiping him gently with the cloth. “If you think I’m letting you go when I finally got you into my bed, you’ve got another think coming.”

His smile dropped. “Did you really want this? Did you think about me… before? I mean, when we were… pretending?”

I tossed the cloth on the floor and climbed onto the bed to pull him into my side before kissing his hair. “If you really thought I needed that much kissing practice, we need to have a conversation,” I mused.

He groaned and covered his face with his hands. “Oh my God, I’m so embarrassed.” He looked up at me with a frown. “But wait. The kissing was your idea.”

I grinned at him. “Yeah, but a good one. Right?”

He groaned again, but this time it was peppered with a laugh. I rolled him over and started kissing him again, everywhere.

Only this time, it wasn’t practice. It was the real thing. He just might not have known it yet.

“Mmm. You taste like cinnamon.” Diesel licked his lips like he was savoring the flavor, which meant he also licked my lips since my mouth was mere millimeters from his.

“No, I think you taste like cinnamon,” I corrected, leaning in that last bit so I could kiss him. I loved the way he moaned and his breathing hitched, despite the hours and hours we’d spent wrapped up in each other over the past two days. I pulled back far enough to say, “Yep. Definitely you.”

Diesel grinned and shifted a bit on his big sofa, pulling me more fully on top of him and twitching a soft fleece blanket into place over my shoulders. He reached over to the coffee table and broke another sweet morsel off the cinnamon cake I’d baked the day before.

“You might be right,” he agreed, popping the cake in his mouth, and I huffed a laugh into his collarbone.

I felt drunk. Not drunk drunk; I hadn’t had an alcoholic beverage in ages. But I was starting to see how maybe sex drunk was a thing. Or cum drunk. Or lov—I mean, lust drunk. I was no blushing virgin, but I’d never felt so well used. I’d also never felt so wanted.

On the one hand, I was absolutely exhausted. I was sore and scratched up, and I didn’t want to move from this spot for a hundred years, or at least until the baby dozing in her crib in the bedroom woke up for the second time that morning, which could happen at any minute. My brain felt fuzzy too, like all my thoughts were floating high above me, just out of reach.

But at the same time, I felt satisfied in a way I hadn’t for a long time, or maybe ever. Like having every inch of my skin touching every inch of Diesel’s flawless, tattooed skin was exactly where I was meant to be. Like the two of us cuddling and watching the sky lighten from purple to rose to peach was the most important work I’d ever do. Which reminded me…

“I have to get up and go to work,” I muttered to his chest.

“You definitely do,” Diesel agreed, though his arms tightened around me for a second, giving lie to his words.

“But I don’t wanna.”

“Uh-huh.” I felt Diesel’s smile against my hair as his fingers skimmed below the waistband of my underwear beneath the blanket. “That’s what you said yesterday morning when you called in.”
