“Are you not eating?” I ask him, and he walks over to the stove where he takes out his prepared meal.

“I am,” he confirms, coming over and sitting next to me as we eat. I thought after telling Penelope about the baby, it would be weird. I don’t know why, but it’s nothing like that. It feels like it did all this time.

I shoo them out of the kitchen when I know it’s time for her to get ready for bed. Grabbing my phone before going into the kitchen, I FaceTime Gabriella, who answers after one ring.

“I don’t even care that you haven’t spoken to me in two days.” She pretends not to look at the phone. “I don’t even care you went home to tell Mom and Dad about your baby daddy and didn’t think to tell me.” I just watch her. “I don’t even care.”

“I’m sorry,” I tell her softly, “everything just happened so fast.”

“Too fast to call your twin sister?” she shrieks, looking at the phone. “You just wait until something happens with me, and you find out through Christopher.” Her voice goes even louder. “Christopher, who didn’t even give me the right information.” I just shake my head. “He told me you are getting married—”

“I’m not getting married,” I finally interrupt. “Don’t you think I would tell you if I was getting married?”

“I thought I knew you,” Gabriella says, “and then you jump on a plane with my nephew.”

“We told Penelope,” I say softly as I clean up the kitchen and look over to see Gabriella waiting. “She took it so much better than I thought.”

“Obviously, she did. She’s amazing.” Gabriella shakes her head.

“She did ask me if the baby was going to have a room here,” I share, looking toward the stairs to make sure I’m alone. “Actually, Tristan asked me to move in with him.”

“What did you tell him?” Her face comes even closer to the phone.

“I told him I couldn’t live with him because I was in love with him, and he just wanted me for the baby.”

“Boy,” Gabriella groans, “you are so dumb sometimes.” I just roll my eyes. “You have been the only one not to see what he feels for you.” I look at her, shocked. “You are getting everything you’ve ever wanted.” I swallow when I think about it. I’m having a baby with the love of my life. “Don’t get all in your head.”

“I’m not all in my head,” I deny, but I am all in my head. “I have to go.”

“Are you coming home tonight?” she asks. I want to say yes, but to be honest, I have no idea. “I’m leaving tomorrow to go visit a couple of friends in LA.”

“For how long?” I ask her, and she cocks her head to the side. “I said I was sorry.”

“Yeah, whatever,” she says. “I have to go. Below Deck Down Under is starting, and this new captain is so hot.” She wiggles her eyebrows. “I’d like him to go down under.”

She hangs up the phone, and I move around the room, making sure everything is clean. I turn the light off and walk into the living room. I sit on the couch, curling my feet under me. “Hey.” I hear Tristan when he walks into the room. “You didn’t have to clean the kitchen.”

“I most certainly did,” I tell him as he sits next to me, draping his arm over my legs.

“How are you feeling?” he asks. I try to tell him I’m fine, but a yawn escapes me. He gets up, holding out his hand. “Let’s get you to bed. You can crash in the guest bedroom.”

“I want to say no,” I remark, grabbing his hand to get me off the couch, “but I’m honestly so tired.”

He laughs at me as he walks me upstairs, very much like he did the last time. “You call me if you need anything.”

“Do you have a T-shirt?” I ask him. “I don’t want to sleep in my dress.” He walks toward his bedroom as I make my way into the guest bedroom. My feet sink into the plush carpet as I turn on the bedside lamp. I sit on the bed waiting for him as he comes back in with T-shirts in both hands.

“I don’t know what you wanted, so I brought you two,” he offers, holding them out for me.

“Thank you.” I get up and reach for them.

“You let me know if you need anything else,” he says, and I nod. “Good night, Abigail,” he says softly and leans in to kiss my lips gently.

He walks out of the room, and I can still feel his kiss on my lips ten minutes later when I’m getting out of the shower and drying myself off. I grab the white shirt that reaches right under my butt, covering everything. The minute I put it on, I smell him all around me. Slipping under the cover, it takes me a second to fall asleep, only waking when I need to pee and I’m suddenly so thirsty. I finish in the bathroom and tiptoe out of my room. Seeing Penelope’s door half closed and Tristan’s open but in the dark. I try not to make any noise as I walk down the stairs toward the kitchen.
