Key’s strong, insistent fingers pressed underneath his chin and tilted his head. Alec grinned even if he couldn’t muster the strength to open his eyes as Key’s calloused palm tenderly caressed his face as if memorizing him with his fingertips. Say what Key might, the guy was as much of a romantic as Alec.

Still basking in the afterglow of his orgasm, Alec finally lifted his eyelids, meeting Key’s gaze. No words were necessary, their strong connection lingered. Key’s eyes said exactly what Alec’s heart needed to hear. Devotion and determination ignited the promise of a long future for their great love affair.

“I’ve gotta go right now. I’ll be back tonight,” Key said, pressing his lips to Alec’s in a soft kiss.

“Give me your word that you’ll come back to me, even after you’ve had time to think about all this again. Promise me and I’ll believe you.” Alec tightened his grip again, wrapping both arms securely around Key’s broad shoulders, holding him there against him.

Key smiled. He leaned forward again, pressing his lips to Alec’s. “I’m sorry about all that earlier. Stay patient with me.”

“I’m taking that as a promise you’re coming back,” Alec replied, raising his brow and nodding. That seemed to lighten the moment. Key just shook his head, grinning broadly, and slowly extricated himself from Alec.

Alec made himself let go. Key reached down to grab his cell phone Alec had dropped, before leaving Alec standing there, yanking up his shorts. Key tugged his helmet on, staring at Alec. The biker grinned, stealing away the remnants of Alec’s heart that hadn’t already been given to Key.

“I’ll see you tonight,” Key yelled over the rumble as he centered the bike and knocked up the kickstand.

Alec watched him leave as it occurred to him the bike had continued running the whole time. He bet his neighbors were fit to be tied, already calling to report him. His homeowners’ association would surely be knocking on his door by the end of the day. That was okay. He’d again pay the twenty-five dollar noise violation charge and listen to the lecture about being considerate of his neighbors. Hell, he should just give the HOA a retainer to pull from, because no matter what, Alec never wanted this to end.

Alec pushed through the exit door into the private parking lot of the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center with renewed pep in his step. He’d been on his A-game today. He’d convinced the court to not only terminate Donald Cummings’s parental rights, but to also keep the habitual offender locked away while awaiting his criminal trial. He owed a lot of his success of the day to Janice, his good friend and colleague. She had worked steadily by his side for nothing more than an appreciative pat on the back, but at least for now, little Keely Cummings, Donald’s young daughter, and her always vigilant grandmother wouldn’t have to worry about Donald getting out of jail and coming for his daughter. The DA’s office still had their work cut out for them. Hopefully, a criminal attorney would be assigned to the case soon. Until then, Alec had done his part, and he might not have ever felt more accomplished in his life.

This latest wave of good fortune was like the icing on his already perfect cake. Three days had passed since that fateful morning where he’d thought he’d lost everything…and three nights of Key returning to his house every evening after work to spend the night and start the next day with him. Everything had changed. No, his biker hadn’t said the words back to him, but every one of Key’s actions proved his love. Key was more attentive than ever before, and that said a lot, because when they were together, they were so in sync it was hard to know where one began and the other ended.

He might be able to pin his giant grin to the toe-curling pleasure he’d woken to this morning. His big sexy man had nuzzled against his neck, marking him in the sweetest of ways while taking care of his morning wood. By Alec’s estimation, there wasn’t a better way to start a day. God, he was a fortunate man. All these years—hell, all of his life—he’d been searching for something unknown, and that unknown rested in the hands of one badass biker. His badass biker. Alec couldn’t be happier.

His phone vibrated in the front breast pocket of his suit jacket, drawing him from his go-to Key-infused musings. The ones that assailed him anytime he got a moment’s mental break. He reached in his slacks pocket for his Bluetooth earpiece, added it to his ear as he approached his vehicle, hearing the doors automatically unlock as he drew closer. With a press of the button, he answered the phone without checking caller ID.
