Misha got back to work, helping out with Blueberry’s latest delivery. She had decided to no longer take her anger out on the pack in order to make Decker’s life miserable. She’d returned to all of her jobs, and as it came to five o’clock, she said her goodbye to Blueberry and headed over to the diner.

She waved and smiled at several of the pack on her way over, going into the crowded diner.

Humans were still in residence, and she saw a few of them in the back, eating, laughing, completely oblivious to the wolves close to them.

She headed toward the back to get her uniform to change into and came to a stop when she saw Decker sitting in front of her locker.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

“You declined my offer of dinner,” he said. “You returned the flowers. I wanted to make sure everything was okay. Women love flowers.”

“The flowers were beautiful, but I didn’t need them. You’re in front of my locker.”

He stepped to the side, but not too far.

She opened her locker, reached for her uniform, and walked across to the bathroom.

“Misha, you don’t have to ignore me,” he said.

She chuckled. “I’m not ignoring you. I’m getting ready for work.”

“Damn it, Misha, talk to me.”

She closed the bathroom door, stripping out of her skirt and shirt then replacing them with the uniform. She wrapped her long hair up into a bun on top of her head and stepped out. “Now you want me to talk to you? I remember a time you would ignore me, so why don’t we go to that?”

“Misha, I’m trying to make this up to you. I know I’ve made so many mistakes, and for that, I’m sorry. I don’t know what to do to make this right with you,” he said.

She hung her clothes up in the locker and shut the door. “So, you’re ready to, what? To have a mate? To accept me?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“Wow, right, okay. I will get back to you on that.”

“Misha!” He grabbed her arm, and she jerked out of his touch.

“No, you do not get to Misha me. Three years, Decker. Three long, lonely years of having to watch you. Of having to wonder how you can reject me. I’m your mate. You felt it too, and I know you still feel it. You won’t let me leave, and you don’t want me to stay. Ugh, why am I even talking to you? I’ve got to deal with work.”

Her hands shook as she grabbed the booklet she kept in the apron of her uniform. She tried to ignore Decker’s presence as she made her way out into the main room, but he took a seat at the counter and refused to leave.

She had no choice but to attempt to be professional, aware of people watching him. They were all curious as to why he was there. The pack knew he avoided her.

Why was he suddenly sniffing around?

She didn’t have time for questions. With how busy the dinner rush was, she got stuck in and ignored Decker.

Even as she tried to not think about him sitting at the counter, which she had to pass every single time she went back and forth to the kitchen, she felt his gaze on her. Misha allowed herself a few glances back at him, and each time, his stare was on her. The heat from that gaze made her aroused.

Life isn’t fair.

The hours ticked by.

Customers started to leave, and Decker was still enjoying his coffee.

She helped to clean up, and when there was nothing else to do, she grabbed her clothes from the locker, along with her bag, and made her way out of the room. There was no sign of Decker, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

Only, it didn’t last. He waited outside, holding a single red rose.

“You worked hard tonight,” he said.

She groaned. “What is this?”

“I wanted to walk you home.”

She took a deep breath. Walking her home was not a bad thing. “Fine. Fine. You can walk me home.”

He held out the rose, and she shook her head.

Misha didn’t slowly walk to her apartment, she took off at a speedy pace, wanting to get to her apartment door, pronto.

They were down the alleyway when Decker grabbed her arm and pressed her up against the brick wall. His large body flush against hers. His arm resting above her head. The hardness of his cock easy to feel as he was so close to her stomach.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

She rolled her eyes. “I’m trying to get home.”

“Misha, I’m not an idiot.”

“Could have fooled me.”

He chuckled. “I made a lot of mistakes with you, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to keep on making them.”

“Whatever you’re feeling right now, Decker. Save it. Think about the very reason you rejected me all those moons ago. Embrace that feeling and back the fuck off.”
