He lowered his face to mine and kissed me deeply. Passionately. His mouth was possessive and claiming. It obliterated anything and everything else. He pulled me close, letting me feel his desire. His obsession.

I was breathless when he pulled back, resting his forehead on mine. “What say you now, wife?”

I stared up at him, his green eyes dark with hunger. Passion.

“Take me on my honeymoon, husband.”

He smiled, satisfied. “Done.”

I stared out the window at the cascade of lights below me. I had never seen so many people, so many lights. I was in awe.

Roman came up to the window, his profile a dark shadow behind me. He leaned his hand on the glass, resting his chin on my shoulder. His warm breath tickled my skin. “Incredible, isn’t it?”

“It is,” I breathed.

“I’m sorry it’s not more exciting.”

“No,” I protested. “I’ve never been to New York. Or on a private plane. And I have never stepped foot in a penthouse, never mind stayed in one.”

He chuckled. “We’ll visit a few places here”—he pressed lingering kisses to my neck that made me shiver—“and we’ll go somewhere warmer in the fall.”

“What places?”

“Wherever you want, Effie. But I need some alone time with you as well.” The kisses turned wetter, his tongue stroking my skin, his teeth nibbling. “Lots of alone time with my wife.”

The desire in his voice was evident. Not long after our dance, he had tucked me to his side, and we had slipped away. After a brief ride to an airstrip, we boarded a private plane, and it flew us to New York. I looked around at the opulent interior, the cream-and-black leather seats wide and comfortable. He had sat back, one leg bent across his knee as he studied me.

“You are so beautiful,” he said.

I flushed at his words. “I feel rather overdressed,” I replied, smoothing a hand over the long lace skirt.

“No, I want to take that dress off you later.”

My flush deepened.

“We left so fast,” I said, trying to change the subject. “You won’t get into, ah, trouble?”

He rubbed his jaw slowly, the movement sexy. “No. All the men in the room understood exactly why we left. You were a siren in that space, Effie. Sexy, classy, beautiful, and still so innocent. I doubt a man there wouldn’t have given his riches to have you. I wasn’t going to give any of them a chance to so much as touch you.”

“How much have you had to drink?” I asked, startled, although his words thrilled me. His tone of voice was low, possessive, almost guttural.

He threw back his head in laughter. “And that—your complete lack of knowledge of how utterly captivating you are. That is the sexiest thing about you.”

I rolled my eyes. “No more scotch.”

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his thighs. “You doubt me, Effie? I saw the looks. The desire in the men’s eyes, the jealousy in the women’s.”

“Not everyone looked at me that way.”

“No. But a lot did. And they don’t get the chance to come close to you. Ever. No one will ever bother you or hurt you. I will not allow it.”

“Roman,” I said, my voice sounding breathless.

He held out his hand. “Come to me, wife.”

I did, and he pulled me to his lap, my gown spread out like a snow-covered lawn. I straddled him, feeling his cock hard and pressed between us. He pulled me to his mouth, kissing me deeply. I whimpered at the possessive feel of his lips.

And then the captain made his announcement that we were departing, and the flight attendant appeared, a smile playing on her lips. “I must ask you to take your seat and buckle up,” she said.

Roman stood and set me in the seat across from him, buckling me in himself. He kissed me again. “Until later,” he promised.

From the dark look in his eyes, I knew later was now.

He turned me in his arms, covering my mouth with his. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he lifted me, carrying me down the hall to the bedroom. He kept kissing me as he undid the row of buttons on the back of my dress, taking his time and slowly unhooking them one by one. I pushed on his shoulders, and he shrugged off his jacket, then stepped back, tugging on my sleeves. “Show me what that dress is hiding.”

I let the dress fall, a pile of green and white at my feet. The corset and barely there lace underwear caught his attention, and he traced a finger over the lingerie, his breathing becoming deeper. He helped me step away from my gown and stood back, twirling his finger, indicating I should do the same. I laughed as I spun, the look on his face intensifying.

“I have the sexiest wife on the planet,” he mused.
