“Ban her from all properties other than the apartment. If she acts out, take the apartment back and remind her of herself,” I say with finality.

“Got it. Speaking of the lairs. Your nephew has been coming by again.”

I sit up on my ass and groan. He’s talking about Dylan O’Brien. The kid is an exceptional fighter, but he doesn’t belong in the lairs.

The illegal fights could ruin his chances at a professional career. I’ll let Brooklyn know his baby brother is lurking in places he doesn’t belong again. He’s relatively safe in my lairs, but some of the other fight clubs could become problematic.

The Russians and their clubs specifically. The Black clubs under the horsemen aren’t as volatile as the Russian clubs. Those fucking Aussies aren’t much better, but Dylan is as safe in the Slaughterhouses as he is in my rings. They are family after all.

“Aye, I’ll handle him. Make sure it’s known that he’s not to be touched. I fear no man, but me sister … she’d have my head if anything happened to the lad.”

Oisín chuckles at this. He knows Cassie, so he understands completely. Unfortunately, I would have to fight her and Joe over this one.

“Aye. Ya want to keep them?” he asks, nodding at the dogs.

“Aye, they can stay. I can use the company.” I pull my shirt over my head and toss it to him. “See if ya can get KD to come back with ya. I miss her moody ass too.”

Oisín laughs and shakes his head. We both know she’ll want to follow her brothers when they don’t return. The shirt will only entice her more. She’s moody and likes to stay to herself, but she’s like her brothers when it comes to me.

They know I’m their human. I’ve had them from the time they were a few weeks old. I love the breed and the fact that they are guard dogs. I can’t wait to see how they react to Dean.

I’m hoping she fits into our little family. I pet the boys and promise them a fresh meal in Gaelic. All three dogs respond to the native tongue.

LaSalle has given me shit for training my Italian dogs in Irish dialect. I get a kick out of it every time. My dogs, my way.

Life would be so much easier if everyone saw things this way. My world, my rules. That reminds me.

“I need one more favor before ya go. Bujar needs to learn a little lesson. Arrange a meet.”

“The Albanians? I thought we were only watching them,” he says with raised brows.

“We are. I’m not going to kill him. I want to look him in the eyes and have a conversation.”

“What about the Alliance?”

“What about it?” I bite out and give him a hard glare.

“Aye, if that’s what ya want.”

“It’s what I said.”

CHAPTER 20

Unwanted Guests

Dean

I don’t even open my eyes as I stretch in bed when I wake. I feel like I’ve been asleep for years. It was much needed. My mom comes to mind, and I quickly open my eyes and reach for my phone.

I turn off the do not disturb and make a quick text to Hudson to let him know to get ready. I’ll be heading out as soon as I eat something and get dressed. Then I call the hospital to check in.

I’m tying my robe closed with my phone between my shoulder and ear as I head for the kitchen, when I hear movement in that direction. Moving swiftly, I grab a gun from one of my hiding places.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I bite out when I find Byron cooking in my kitchen.

“You’re alive. That’s good to know,” he says bitterly.

“You know, one of these days I’m going to shoot first and ask questions later.”

“Whoa, Baby Girl. It’s only us, family,” Lyric says, causing me to whip around and aim at him.

I roll my eyes and put the safety back on my gun. Lyric comes over and pecks me on the cheek. I punch him in the arm and follow him into the kitchen.

“I want that key back before you leave, Byron,” I grumble.

“You’ve been at the hospital since you returned. I didn’t want to wake you. Not that you were answering any of our calls,” he replies.

“If it doesn’t involve my mom, it’s not important right now.”

“Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way, Baby Girl,” Lyric says.

“I left you in charge. You mean to tell me you can’t hold things down while I take care of my mom?” I snap.

“Danny, you know I always have your back, but there are things you have to have a final say on,” Lyric sighs.

“I know what I would do if I were running things,” Byron says.

I jerk my head back and look at him. He purses his lips and holds up his hands. I glare at him hard.
