“You’re right. We have a lot to talk about. I get where he was coming from even if I don’t like it. Let’s go back to your place. My hangover is finally leaving, and I’m suddenly starving.” My butterfly turns, and I see can her light brown eyes, the combination of brown, gold, and green.

“If this is your way of getting me to make waffles and bacon, all you had to do was ask.”

“Fine, will you please make me breakfast?” Her head is tipped up. My own dips down. I’m still holding her hand, so my other moves to her lower back, bringing her closer to me. Then I take her mouth with mine. My first taste of many. When I told her she was my home, I wasn’t kidding. Her soft plush lips move beneath mine, and a low moan leaves her, allowing me the entrance I was going to get regardless of the outcome. Her tongue wraps around mine, and the moment her warm hand presses against my lower stomach, fingernails pressing in, I know I’m a fucking goner. My hand moves, gripping the fabric, pulling it up until it’s out of my way and my hand is cupping the cheek of her ass. My cock wakes up, stirring in the confines of the denim, becoming harder, thicker, ready to be inside her.

“Butterfly.” I pull back to gather myself, attempting to gain composure before I’m ripping her shirt off, backing her up until she’s against a tree, I’m ripping open my jeans, and am finally getting inside the only woman I’ve ever fucking wanted. “Let’s take this to the house, okay?” Tulsa nods in response. I step back. Her eyes are a blazing inferno, tongue coming out to lick her lips as her eyes lock on my torso then glide down to my cock. There’s no hiding it, not that I will. Not now and not ever again. Tulsa is no longer the teenage girl. I’m still ten years older, but at least this time around, she’s more than legal.

TULSA ROSE

“You know Ella and Montgomery dated when I was sixteen, right? I walked in the house one day after school, and she was in the kitchen, baking cookies like she was married to Mont,” I tell Ledger as he pours the batter into the waffle iron. The bacon is sizzling on the griddle.

“I’m aware.” He looks up from what he’s doing.

“What I didn’t tell you is that she was naked minus one of Mom’s aprons.” I internally gag, maybe throw up in my mouth a little bit, which sucks because after the kiss Ledger laid on me, I don’t want to think of Ella in the same sentence.

“Fuck, that’s not cool.” He shakes his head, a disgruntled look on his face.

“Oh, that’s not all. Some of it was my fault. I didn’t tell anyone, thinking Mont really liked this girl or loved her even. So, I took all the snide remarks, her talking about how I’d never grow into my body, how braces weren’t attractive to boys, and how they wouldn’t kiss a girl while I had them.” I roll my eyes. As if I was looking at any boys in high school. My sights were set on Ledger. There was never anyone else. “One day, Montgomery walked into the house, heard Ella make one of her remarks about me living off my brother and that I would never amount to anything if it weren’t for him. That’s when he ended things. He kicked her out. She was crying and screaming. It was kind of pathetic. I guess it wasn’t really over like I thought, since she’s working for you. I assume there was something between them because if Montgomery told you any of this, I know she wouldn’t be at Sinclair Roofing.” Ledger wanted to talk. This was easier than the fact I’m sitting on two letters in Mont’s bedroom at our house or the slew of other things we’ve yet to unfold.

“The only reason she has a job at Sinclair Roofing has to do with Montgomery. She came to my office shortly after you left claiming to be pregnant. I had no idea about her being a cunt to you. I should have, though. Chase brought it to my attention three months later that she wasn’t showing. I asked her about it, so caught up in my own grief. Mont was gone, you were gone, and I was burying myself in work, drowning out life. Ella stated she had a miscarriage. That’s an area I’ve got no expertise in. I left it at that. She did her job, stayed away from me. Things were fine. Now they aren’t. She’s becoming a pain in my ass. I’m about to set her ass loose. The unemployment line is calling Ella’s name.” A deep gasp escapes me. If she was pregnant and lost the baby, that means she lost a piece of my brother, my mother, and our father. I’d have lost years with my niece or nephew. I shouldn’t think about myself, especially after holding my best friend as she had to have a D&C when her body rejected her baby.
