But that bag didn’t just have a ring inside.

Attached to her belly right now is a heartbeat monitor. One that will stay in place for the rest of the pregnancy, attached to an app on my phone so I can listen to that steady little rhythm anytime I like. I’ve missed so much of her pregnancy, and I won’t miss another second. I’ve also got a portable sonogram machine so I can take a look at my little man whenever the mood strikes me.

The world took years away from me already for doing what was right. But when you do the right thing to a man with an eight-figure bank account and a rich family with secrets to hide, there’s no real justice.

This girl owns my fucking soul. I reach up and tip back my hat an inch, so I get a better view of my obsession.

The way her round belly rests on her thighs as she leans forward, the smell of nail polish rising into the air, is bringing fucking tears to my eyes, especially knowing it’s my fucking seed I planted in there up against a wall in the prison. Her virgin blood smeared all over my dick as we consummated our little forbidden affair.

I already knew I’d never let her go, but getting a baby planted inside her was my fucking obsession.

My balls produced enough sperm that day to impregnate a harem, but all I wanted was her. All I’ll ever want is her.

As my father’s voice drones on, I think of pushing her down to her knees and shoving my prison-starved dick between those pouty little lips. Or teach her a new trick, sitting on Santy’s lap reverse cowgirl style with my dick up her tight little asshole.

Decisions, decisions.

“Are you listening to me, Cutter?” Colbert’s voice cuts through my more pleasant thoughts.

No.

“Yeah, I’m still here, Dad.”

He chokes. I haven’t called him Dad since I was a kid. “You haven’t earned the right—”

Enough of his bullshit. I made this call for my own reasons, but my sweet little knocked-up sister is distracting as fuck. “Your turn to fucking listen, my turn to talk,” I say calmly.

Sadie twists the cap onto the nail-polish jar, leaning down to blow on her toes, and I nearly lose my load in my pants.

“Don’t you talk to me like—”

“Shut the fuck up. You want to say Merry Christmas to Sadie? She’s right here.”

He goes silent. I hadn’t told him where I was when I called. He was too busy being right about fucking everything as soon as he answered the phone.

I get it. It’s fear. He’s scared as fuck that he doesn’t know what to do with me. He never did. But his heavy-handed techniques had the opposite effect from the one he’d hoped. His insistence on ‘my way or the highway’ only made me want to defy him more.

I take the phone from my ear, tapping the speaker button, and his voice projects into the tiled room, “—with Sadie? You think I’m going to give you any more money at all if you’re not willing to keep up your end of the agreement? You stay away from my ranch, and you stay away from my family, you hear me?”

“I didn’t agree to shit, old man. You offered money in exchange for my balls, and I walked away. You assuming we had an agreement is your own blind arrogance talking.” I seethe as Sadie interrupts the downward spiral of the conversation.

“Hi, Dad,” she chirps with a grin, looking up with sparkling fucking eyes that make me seriously consider hanging up and taking my anger out on her already-beat-to-shit little baby maker there, but I hold my tongue, letting her soften the wedge that’s between the two men in our family.

“Sadie, don’t worry. Cutter is leaving, right now, if he knows what’s good for him. I had the deputy come up there last night. He said you were fine, but now, clearly, he needs to be schooled on what fine means.”

She laughs. “I am fine, Dad. What do you think he’s going to do to me?”

I lean forward, run a finger down the side of her thigh, and she wiggles her butt on the table, shivering. “You keep wriggling like that, you’re going to find out what I’ll do to you,” I growl, making her giggle and stick out her tongue.

“What the hell is going on?” Colbert barks through the phone, and I decide to put him out of his misery.

“Is Sadie’s mother there?” I ask, leaning forward to kiss Sadie’s forehead as her brow furrows with worry.

“Yes, Elena is right here. Now, tell me what you’re doing at my ranch, and—”

“Is Isabel listening?”

“No—” Colbert’s voice sounds confused for a second, like I don’t know I have a half-sister. “She’s outside by the pool.”
