But that wasn’t true. I could call for help.

I sucked in a breath as the man brought his hand to his crotch and began to rub himself. “Don’t you want to find out what I can do? I’m not here to hurt you or steal from you. I just want to get away. It’s a fair trade.”

That brought me back to the room. I could smell the man’s musky scent. He was wearing some kind of cologne that made me want to eat him up.

How long had it been since I’d been with a man? A damn long time, but I wasn’t trustworthy. I’d accepted that I should stick to jerking off, but this guy was tempting. He was gorgeous, just the sort of man I would have gone for instantly before everything changed.

He couldn’t be serious, could he? This had to be a trick. I would let my guard down, and he would attack. Although, he’d had a chance to do that outside, and he hadn’t taken it.

Who was he? Why was he there?

If only I could let myself believe this was a dream.

“What are you going to do with me if you’re not interested in my offer?” he asked.

“Are you ever quiet?”

“Rarely.”

“Fuck.”

He grinned. “That is on the table.”

“No.”

“Then I should leave and try to find my own way.” He started to stand.

I raised my gun, aiming it directly at his chest, but he kept moving. He never took his eyes off me, but he slowly made his way to the door.

I wasn’t going to shoot him, even if I could, even if I thought I still had the capacity to kill. I wasn’t going to do it when I had no idea who this man was and no proof he was there to hurt me.

I shoved my gun back into my waistband and stomped across the room, once again driving him into the wall and caging him in.

He looked up at me, eyes wide. He actually looked scared now. That was good, right?

But as soon as I relaxed, he ran his teeth over his lower lip and looked at me from under half-closed eyes.

“You really have no sense of self-preservation.”

He ducked under my arm and grabbed the door, wrenching it open. He barely got through it before I brought him down and pinned him under me on the wooden floor of the porch.

His round ass was soft against my cock, which hadn’t fully softened since we’d been much too close earlier.

He pushed back against me, and I flexed my hips so I could settle my shaft into the crack of his ass. This was madness, but he’d asked for it. When had I ever worried this much about whether I was doing the right thing? I used to drag men out behind bars and fuck them with far less provocation.

But that was then. When I was… whole.

Fuck that. If he was going to sneak around my cabin, then offer his ass, why shouldn’t I take it?

I sat back on my heels and used my grip on the back of his neck to hold him down.

“Either tell me who you are and why you’re here, or I’m going to drag you back inside and use you in any way I see fit.”

He didn’t say a word. I stood and pulled him up by the back of his shirt. He let out a cry when I threw him over my shoulder to carry him inside. I kicked the door shut behind me, entered the bedroom, and tossed him onto the bed. His eyes widened as he bounced on the mattress.

“Isn’t this what you wanted?”

He swallowed hard, obviously regretting taunting me. “I … um…”

“Don’t move.”

I ran back to the door and secured all the locks. When I returned, he was lying on his back, staring at me like I was a wild animal. I basically was.

I grabbed his legs and jerked him toward the end of the bed. “Turn over. Feet on the ground. Hands above your head.”

“Jesus, you like control, don’t you?”

“You’re my fucking prisoner, so yeah, I’m in control.”

Was I, though? I hadn’t felt like I was in control of anything for a very long time.

“Aren’t you going to take your clothes off, Papa Bear?”

“No.” He must not be that scared if he was still calling me that ridiculous name.

“But I want—”

“This isn’t about what you want. You could be lying dead in the dirt outside this cabin. You’re here in my bed, and if you want to live through the night, you’re going to shut the fuck up.”

“Yes, sir,” he purred. This guy really lacked a proper fear response.

When he was positioned like I’d told him, I unfastened his pants and yanked them down. Then I kicked his legs as far apart as they would go with his pants and briefs at his ankles. Designer pants and very expensive briefs from what I could tell. Who the fuck was this guy?
