I shivered.

He inhaled me. “God, It’s not just your blood that’s making me crazy. When I close my eyes, it’s not just your blood that I think of.”

“I’m feeling. . .you so much more now. Your presence around me. . .inside of me.” I shivered again. “Is that the blood bond?”

“I believe it’s because you’re my queen.”

I blinked. “Then. . .there’s really no turning back from this?”

“None.” His gold eyes glowed. “Do you finally understand?”

I slowly nodded my head. “I’m not used to this type of. . .love. . .relationship. . .this. . .”

“There is no simple word for what we are and what we will be.” His lips pressed onto mine.

I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and opened my mouth.

And our lips grew desperate and hungry. His strong muscular arms encircled me, and I melted into his embrace. I gave myself eagerly to him, consumed by a passionate fire that burned through us both.

“Well, now that you two are overjoyed with love,” Victoria interrupted as she stood behind us, “maybe now we should figure out what’s going on with Camille’s blood. Clearly that’s why so many guards are out there searching for her.”

Xander dragged himself from my mouth.

My head went dizzy. I had to blink it away.

“Don’t worry, Victoria.” A sly smile spread across Xander’s face. “I’ve already thought of a plan.”

Xander kept his back to Victoria, shoved his hands into his pants, and readjusted his hard cock under the material.

What are you doing?

I’d rather that everyone not see how aroused you make me.

I blushed. “What’s this plan you’ve thought up?”

“Well, Octavia was the one who brought Camille to me,” Xander said. “I’m thinking my dear sister will be the best place to start with when it comes to getting answers. Her and my mother know something.”

Ty walked in. “I agree.”

Xander turned to him. “Ty, do you think you can round up some party clothes for us? We’ll have to sneak into one of Octavia’s lavish underground parties.”

“We don’t have the money for ball gowns and masks.” Victoria shook her head. “Let’s just go to her room on the castle grounds.”

“She’ll be surrounded by guards as well as other princesses and maids.” Xander shook his head. “She won’t be able to talk and Camille would have to enter the castle gates to come with us which would put her in danger.”

Victoria blew out air. “Then let Camille stay here and maybe we can—”

“No!” Xander interrupted.

Victoria backed up.

I tensed.

Xander hissed. “Camille always remains next to me.”

Ty got in front of Victoria. “Alright. Camille remains with you. Calm down.”

His need for me. . .is as bad as my need for him.

I grabbed his hand and squeezed it.

I could have never walked away.

Victoria crossed her arms in front of her chest. “Then, let’s hear this plan, Xander.”

“We go to one of Octavia’s parties’ tomorrow night. She’ll be alone and high enough to spill anything she knows.” Xander rose from the ground. “We also need to send some men out to Zumaya and make sure Camille’s family is protected. Leeta said they were traveling north, tracking our scent. If they continue, our scent will eventually lead them to Zumaya. Let’s have men waiting there to defend the city enough for the residents to escape.”

“We don’t have any money.” Victoria shook her head. “All of that will take wagons full of money.”

“But we do have my blood.” I extended my arm out to them. “We could get a lot for one vial. I’ll give you as much as you need. Maybe we should only sell it to vampires for now since it’s causing a reaction with humans.”

Victoria brightened. “That would give us all the money we needed.”

Xander’s lips lowered to a frown. “I don’t like using your blood.”

I shrugged. “This isn’t for you to decide.”

He gazed at me and slipped into my mind. It isn’t?

We need the money.

What if other vampires taste your blood and want you?

Then, we will deal with that when it comes. One problem at a time.

I would kill them if they came for you.

And I would help.

A wild grin hit his face.

Ty interrupted our mental communication. “My human assistant, Quincy, can get the supplies for us while we sleep during the day.”

We turned to him.

Ty continued, “And I know a group of blood pirates that will be more than happy to rush off to Zumaya for a decent price.”

Xander looked back at me. How do you feel about this?

I want my daughters safe.

“Sounds good then, Ty.” Xander looked back at him. “Let’s get a vial of Camille’s blood to Quincy and then get some rest. We’ll have a big night tomorrow.”

Chapter 21

An Unlikely Servant

Camille

You’re being ridiculous!

I screamed in my head.

Come and sleep in the bed with me.

Xander’s voice sounded in my mind. I’m fine out here. I must get some sleep, and when I’m next to you. . .I don’t.
