“I vote for just telling us what you’ve learned.” Ty glanced at me. “I’m curious as to what is going on with your blood, Camille.”

Ian crossed his arms over his chest. “Forget the answers. You all will need an army against my brother and lots of strategy to beat him. When he senses Xander and Camille, he will kill Xander with no delay.”

I shivered.

Xander stood there for a silent minute as if considering the next best step. After a minute of quiet, Xander let out a long breath. “Ty and Victoria, please leave.”

Ty began to say something, but Xander snarled at him.

“Okay then. We’ll get the carriage and meet you near the sewer opening.” Ty guided an annoyed Victoria down the hallway.

Xander frowned at Ian. “Let’s get this over with.”

I kept my hold on Xander.

“Thank you, King.” Ian came right behind me and held out his wrist.

Suddenly, they sandwiched me together. Both of the men’s hard, muscular bodies molded along mine.

Behind me, Ian inhaled. His chest vibrated against my back. His erections throbbed against my behind. Despite my not wanting them to, my nipples stiffened and heat gathered in places it shouldn’t have.

My bottom lip quivered. “Is this being so close to me necessary?”

“Definitely,” Ian whispered.

“I don’t want him touching me.” Xander’s fangs extended. “However, Ian, keep some space between you and my queen.”

Ian edged back. “Hurry with the bite. I’m ready to breathe fresh air.”

Xander twisted his lips in annoyance. “What must I do?”

“Sink your fangs inside of my wrists.”

Xander groaned in annoyance.

“You think I’m happy about this too?” Ian sighed and slowly raised his wrist to Xander’s mouth. “Once your fangs are in my wrists, push a few hormones into my bloodstream, and inside your head, say you are my king. That should do it.”

Xander yanked Ian’s wrist to his lips and pierced his skin. Time seemed to stand still as a sordid tension hung in the air, the seconds ticking by with agonizing slowness.

Then, suddenly a crimson glow erupted from the darkness, like a beacon of death.

What is this? Magic?

When Xander retracted his fangs and let go of Ian’s wrists, I whirled around and faced Ian.

His eyes glowed.

Dear Ambi.

The air blurred with cloying scarlet fog that stank of iron. These blood chains emerged around Ian’s neck, wrists, and ankles. They swayed along him, seemingly coming alive, writhing and weaving around him like eerie tentacles.

So many horrible thoughts spun in my head.

Were these blood chains heavy? How bad was it to live with them?

Ian gazed down at the magical blood chains clinging to him. “Now release me.”

Xander wrapped his arm around my waist. “Ian, I release you from this spell.”

The blood chains thinned until I could see through them. In some areas, the links unwound and opened, breaking apart. The blood evaporated slowly, from a thick crimson mist to a thin wispy vapor, and then finally nothing.

“My lovely benevolent Ambi.” Ian clapped his hands. “I am free! I am finally free!”

Ian roared. The noise rocked the small sewer tunnel.

My nerves flickered with anxiety. I stepped closer to Xander.

Then, Ian turned to Xander. “You. . .you. . .”

I widened my eyes.

“For you, nephew, I will die for you. I will kill for you. I will follow you into the flames of a seething fire just because you asked.”

Xander frowned. “I will hold you to that.”

“And I will make sure that you never regret this decision.” Ian bowed.

My nerves calmed a little.

“Now, let’s celebrate like we did in the old days! Wine, blood, and women!” Ian yelled and blurred off into the tunnel toward the party.

I blinked.

What the fuck?

Xander groaned in annoyance. “I believe that he will be an immature horny teenager for the rest of the evening.”

Camille

Ian flung money in the tiny space of our wagon as we trekked through Capitol City.

I had provided four vials of my blood for the money. My body trembled with weakness. Xander had forced me to eat food and drink water.

Ian held up several bills in his hand. “First lovely lady that undresses gets more pocks.”

The human women laughed as they raced to unbutton their silk shirts and pull off their heels as quickly as they could. The shoes were tossed into a pile along with wads of stockings, dresses, bras, and panties. Their skin glowed in the moons’ light.

Wow.

Zumayan mushroom smoke thickened the air.

Although I didn’t smoke any, my head buzzed every time I inhaled.

Half-naked human women crowded the area that Ian sat on, forcing me to sit on Xander’s lap.

We’d already dropped Victoria and Ty off at home after taking Ian shopping and waiting for him to make love to two random females in a park.

We’d picked up more women near a market.

I worried that Ian was doing his hormone mist thing to get these women so quickly, but he swore he wasn’t and that human women could sense the power in his blood and were naturally attracted to it.
