At the moment, however, Maverick didn’t seem concerned with his own pleasure, only mine, face creased with concentration. He glanced up at me, and the eye contact did as much for me as his mouth, seeing exactly how into this he was, pupils wide, eyes dark with passion. He held my gaze as he continued working my cock, and I moaned again.

I was the one to look away first, head falling back, balls tightening. I rode the sensations like a Ferris wheel at the fair, seeing where the pleasure would take me as Maverick sped up. The mattress shook, and I glanced down again. Maverick’s eyes were closed, expression that much more intent, and he was humping against the bed in time with his sucking.

“Oh fuck. That’s hot. Can you come this way?”

“Uh-huh.” Maverick hummed around my dick. “More so if you talk to me, tell me when you’re close. Can’t wait to taste it.”

“You are so fucking good at this,” I praised. I could take a hint. “I love how you look doing it. So serious.”

“Mm-hmm.” He moaned eagerly as he sucked harder. He added some new tongue trick, an increased level of friction on the underside, and my orgasm swirled that much closer.

“More like that,” I gasped. “That will get me there.”

He didn’t need to be asked twice as he doubled down on the suction and friction, adding a bit more speed as well. What was really doing it for me, though, was him moaning on my dick and the way he kept rocking against the bed. Maverick so thoroughly enjoying himself made it easier to let go.

I moaned as tension gathered in my muscles, back arching again, heels digging into the mattress.

“Right. There. Close. Don’t stop.”

Maverick clearly had no intention of stopping as he poured on the speed and suction. Everything was fast and messy now, a sloppy race to the finish with both of us moaning.

“Coming.” The orgasm hit so swiftly that I didn’t have a chance to get more of a warning out. It was like a summer storm, the way the sky could go from clear to torrential rain in what seemed like seconds. One moment, I was coasting along, letting the pleasure build, and the next, the pleasure crested, a sharp peak, so good it hurt.

I came in huge spurts, but Maverick swallowed it all, gulping before he pulled away, gasping with his own orgasm.

“That’s good. So good.” Reaching down, I petted his head and shoulders. “Fuck. You’re so hot.”

“Damn.” He scooted around, flopping onto his back next to me.

“You weren’t kidding.” I threw an arm around him, gathering him close. This was my favorite part about sex, the wind down after. “You really do like doing that.”

“Love it.” He pressed a kiss to my neck.

“You’ll have to teach me.”

“You’re thinking of trying?” Maverick stretched so he could peer down at me.

“Seems fair.” I shrugged, continuing to enjoy the post-orgasm boneless sensations, not thinking overly hard, a novelty for me.

“You don’t have to do or try anything that doesn’t sound sexy to you.” Maverick frowned, clearly doing enough thinking for both of us.

“You coming is sexy to me.” I pulled him back down to my shoulder before my neck pinched from staring up at him. “I want to make that happen in as many ways as possible.”

“Good.” Maverick shifted around, the most restless afterglow ever. “That mean we can do this again?”

“Mav…” I groaned as my own brain came back online. The same worries I’d had earlier came rushing back in. “How is this supposed to work anyway?”

“Back to those practicalities, I see.” Sitting up, he gestured between us. “And exactly like this. We find a pocket of time, take advantage of it, don’t overthink it.”

“Overthinking is my middle name.” I wasn’t joking. He was always the one who leaped while I watched to make sure neither of us hit cement.

“I know.” Maverick patted my chest. “But for once, how about we just see what happens?”

There were a thousand reasons why that was a terrible idea. But part of me apparently liked the idea of playing ostrich. Time with Maverick simply felt too good to shove him away yet. “I’ll try to go with the flow.”

Chapter 21

Maverick

August dawned hot and dry, summer in the high desert, summer tourism peaking statewide, and the temperature wasn’t the only thing heating up. A few weeks had passed since the trail ride, and while Colt and I had a healthy stream of text messages and a few stolen moments, sustained alone time was in shorter supply than snow. I was going to blow like a pressure cooker the next time I got the man in a room with a locked door.

However, at the moment, my attention was on Hannah sitting at the kitchen island next to a full cup of coffee. Her rather forlorn gaze was on her phone, and she didn’t offer me her usual smile as I came into the room on a break from my latest room painting and decorating project.
