I thrash, hit, and scratch him with my free hand when he shreds off my nightie as if it is tissue paper before he forces my left hand to join my right hand.

My hips buck when he swivels his tongue down my stomach. I’m angry as hell but more frustrated at myself than him. His most basic touch sets me on fire, and he knows it.

After stopping at the apex of my thighs, he glances up at me. His eyes are lifeless, he is snowed under, so the last thing I want him to do is any of the wicked thoughts streaming through my head.

I don’t know this man.

I don’t like him either.

“Get off me.”

“Get you off? I can do that.” Before I can utter a syllable, he curls his lips around my clit, swivels his tongue around the nervy bud, then sucks it into his mouth, uncaring that he was smearing his cum on it only seconds ago. “I bet I can get you off better than he ever could.”

“This isn’t what I want.”

My body can’t produce the same lies as my mouth. Every fine hair is prickled with awareness, and there are more fireworks being lit in my stomach than a New Year’s Eve party at Times Square. I just don’t want it like this. Fueled with jealousy.

“Ghost…” His name sounds more like a moan than a plea for him to let me go.

The more he bombards my pussy with teasing licks and sloppy kisses, the more I sweat, shake, and fight my eyes not to roll into the back of my head. Try as I may to fight it, I’m about to come, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

“Yes, маленький ягненок.” Ghost growls against my heated skin when my body sinks into the mattress a mere second before a hazardous blaze races through my veins.

I come with a hoarse cry, but in a last-ditch effort to maintain my dignity, I swallow Ghost’s name every time it tries to surface.

He knows that too.

My defiance doubles the flicks of his tongue and sees him stuffing two fingers inside me.

He fingerfucks and eats me until I have no choice but to relent on my earlier stance.

I scream his name loud enough for the world to hear before I collapse from exhaustion.

The next morning, I wake in an empty bed.

GHOST

My gun highlights Alek’s chest before he’s halfway down the corridor. To anyone else, I look like I’m asleep. My pounding head and heavy eyelids are the only things telling another story.

I haven’t slept more than an hour in days, and the exhaustion is taking a toll on me more than the shit I snorted without checking the seal to ensure its quality. There are some fucked drugs on the market, and three nights ago, I dove in headfirst.

I’ve regretted it ever since.

I didn’t just relapse into the man I was four years ago. I made my biggest mistake to date.

I made Katie scream my name.

“Anything?”

While pushing my feet off the chair butted against Lera’s new room with his boot, Alek shakes his head. “Not a single rumble.” He looks as suspicious as I feel when he adds, “Which is real fucking surprising considering I heard her, and I’m nowhere near this half of the compound.”

He’s stirring, and although I appreciate his attempt to weaken my annoyance with humor, now is not the time for jokes. I didn’t move Lera to another room solely because I took my time with Feo. I did it because it was either Katie or her who will face the wrath of my insolence, so I brought them to an area where I can protect them better.

If anyone comes for them, they’ll have to take me down first.

I’ve been camped outside their rooms for three days. Alek and Rusha are the only people permitted to come and go as they please.

“What about Sofia? Any news?”

I haven’t heard a peep from my sister since her suicide attempt. That isn’t unusual. We shunt away our embarrassments as readily as Kirill does his daughters, but Alek usually has his ears close to the ground when it comes to Sofia.

Alek screws up his nose before once again shaking his head. “Vera did mention an extra set of dishes coming from Kirill’s wing.” He looks green at the gills when he murmurs, “You’d think she’d know better.”

“The fact you think she has a choice is laughable. She doesn’t want to be here anymore than Katie.”

“Are you sure about that?” I assume we’re still talking about Sofia until he strays his blue eyes to Katie’s door. “She’s known her sister is out of harm’s way for over a week now, yet she still gets up on the bed every morning to help you.”

“She’s not helping me.” Why would she after I forced myself onto her? “She doesn’t want Lera to get caught in the crossfire.”
