I folded my arms over my chest as I looked away. “Ugh. You haven’t changed at all. You’re exactly the same.”

“Please enlighten me.”

I swung my gaze back to him and tried not to get lost in those sky-blue eyes. “Cocky and a flirt.”

Blayze lifted the coffee cup up to his mouth and blew on it. My eyes instantly went to his mouth, and I swore I could feel those lips moving down my neck. When he blew on the liquid, I focused on my own coffee.

“Glad to get that right out on the table,” he said. “And your dad thought you were the right person to interview me?”

“I’m sorry?”

He shrugged. “Seems to me that if you hate me that much, it could impact what you write about me—if I was going to allow you to write about me, which I’m not.”

My heart dropped. “I don’t hate you, Blayze.”

The way his eyes pierced mine felt like he could see right into my soul. “You certainly don’t like me, and you made that clear the last time I saw you.”

It was then I realized how childish I was acting. What happened was so many years ago. Blayze was nearly seventeen at the time, he was handsome and could most likely get any girl he wanted. Yet, it was me he’d chosen to spend that entire summer with. It had been me he’d shown how to rope. Me whom he went riding with every day. And it was me he’d said was unlike any other girl he knew, right before he kissed me. It was also me he’d wanted to lose his virginity to.

I closed my eyes and shook my head. I was an adult woman. A confident, independent, successful woman who was here to do a job. I was letting my sixteen-year-old hurt feelings drive my behavior.

“I’m sorry, Blayze. I shouldn’t have said what I said back then, but to be honest I was young, hurt, and angry. And yes, I know it was my words that caused you to…”

I let my words drift off, and he raised a brow in question.

Smiling, I decided to lighten the mood. “And if I’m being truthful, I do like you. Kind of.”

The corner of his mouth lifted into the sexiest smile I’d ever seen on a man. When the waitress put our food down, Blayze waited for her to leave. Then he swiped his fingers through the cream and sucked. I couldn’t pull my eyes from his mouth.

My breathing grew heavier at the memory of Blayze pushing his finger inside of me, taking it out, and then tasting it. I was so embarrassed at the time, yet I had burned for him to do it over and over again.

“Like I said, the cream is the best part.”

Holy crap. I was in so much trouble.

Chapter Three

BLAYZE

“Did you like your breakfast?” I asked as Georgie and I left the restaurant. She had eaten in silence, and I knew it was because of the little stunt I’d pulled with the whipped cream. I couldn’t help myself. It had always been fun to tease her. She was so fucking innocent, but even at sixteen I knew there was something about Georgie that told me she’d be crazy in bed. An older football player at school told me about the whole sucking my finger after putting it inside her thing. The way her eyes had widened and heated at the same time…Fuck, I could still feel her heat to this day.

Enough, Shaw, or your dick is going to stand at attention.

She sighed in pleasure. “I’m so full, and it was so good. Good call on stopping here.”

“No problem. You don’t need anything before we leave, do you?”

Georgie shook her head. “No, I’m good.”

“Then let’s head on to Hamilton. My mom will be happy to see you.”

She smiled as she buckled up. “I can’t wait to see your family. I’ve always had such fond memories of the summers I spent in Montana.”

It might have been an asshole move, but I asked, “Then why did you stop coming with your parents?”

From the corner of my eye, I saw her head snap up. “What?”

Quickly glancing over at her, I asked again, “Why did you stop coming to Montana?”

She looked at me with a disbelieving expression, and I turned to focus back on the road.

“I, um…I don’t know. I grew up. Got involved with riding and other things. My summers became busier.”

I nodded. “I was hoping it wasn’t because of what happened between us.”

She let out a nervous laugh. “Don’t be silly, Blayze. We were young, and it was nothing.”

“I don’t know if I would say it was nothing. I thought what we shared was pretty amazing.”

She turned in her seat. “If it was so amazing, then why did you start to flirt with every girl you possibly could after we got caught?”
