And we were pretty damned good at that! That didn’t mean we didn’t call each other on our shit. We did.

“I…” Dana stammered, looking around at us. I had heard her talking about packing some stuff up and keeping it at Drake’s apartment. But I also knew it hadn’t happened yet because she had been stuck working late shifts over the past few days, and still managing to work with us on various neighborhood projects with what time she had to spare.

“You have that boy on the ropes,” Janet snickered. “I think you should show him some mercy.”

“Do you love him?” Kaylie asked earnestly. I could sense her concern. We looked out for the single guys, even Drake, who was a certified pain in the ass. Or he had been.

The man had certainly changed his stripes in the past month or so. Ever since Dana came on the scene. I hid a smile.

“I… I do care about him. I am just a little nervous about the intimacy stuff. And he hasn’t pushed.”

“Good boy,” Suzanna affirmed. Mellissa nodded. Even the horniest, wildest of the single guys did not treat women like meat. Not even when they were single and hanging at the club with the sweetbutts. I could not say the same of the club guys at large, however.

“I think it’s good you are making him wait,” Molly said, sounding like the naive Pollyanna that she was. Or was before Cal got his hands on her. “Make sure you are sure.”

“But I am sure. I mean, I know I like him enough to. I just don’t have a lot of experience with men. And… it’s been a while since I had a boyfriend.”

“You’ll get there. When you are ready.”

“I am ready.”

“Are you sure?”

“I think… no, I know. I am ready.”

“What’s the hold up?”

“I got nervous the first time we were alone together.”

“That is understandable,” I said sympathetically.

“So what’s the hold up?” Janet asked.

“Now he’s acting funny. Like he is afraid to upset me. Almost like he thinks I am made out of glass.”

“Oh, dear,” Kaylie said with a sigh. We all knew what she meant. Drake’s pendulum had swung too far in the other direction.

“Have you told him you love him? Do you love him?”

“I think so… I haven’t said it yet…”

“Has he?”

Dana shook her head, looking bewildered.

“That jackass,” Janet said flatly. “We all know he’s in love with you.”

“You do?”

“Yes, honey,” Kaylie said with a little nod. “It’s clear as day. But it’s past time for him to tell you.”

“Well, if you need help giving him a nudge, we are experts in that regard,” Janet said with a wink.

“Ooooo yes,” I squealed, clapping my hands together. “Let’s get you sexed up! Makeover time!”

“When is your next date?” Molly prodded a worried looking Dana. They were really two sweet, innocent peas in the same pod.

“Tonight…” Dana hedged, looking nervous.

“Let’s get this coat of paint on and head to my place,” I said. “We can check on the kiddos and give you a sex boot camp.”

“Boot camp?”

“Handy tips and tricks,” I said, practically rubbing my hands together.

Dana gave us a nervous smile but nodded.

“Okay.”

“Oh boy,” Kaylie said with a grin. “Drake isn’t going to know what hit him.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Sally

“I don’t know where to start. You are already so pretty,” I said, tilting my head to the side. “But I think we could play a few of your features up.”

“You worked miracles that day at the lake. I was a mess.”

“Nonsense,” Sally said firmly. “You were just a little bit… pinker than usual.”

Dana giggled, looking slightly less like a deer in headlights. I could tell she was out of her comfort zone. I could also tell that she really did love Drake, even if they hadn’t said the ‘L’ word yet.

That was another surprising tidbit that had been revealed that afternoon. The two of them were obviously crazy about each other. They just needed a little course correction. We were about to provide that nudge, I thought with a giggle. If you considered using a sledge hammer a nudge.

Dana nodded, lifted her head, and closed her eyes.

“Good girl. Trust in Sally,” Janet said. “What outfit are we going with?”

I laughed as Janet took charge of the wardrobe situation. She clapped her hands like a tall, redheaded, general. It was so emotional for all of us to watch her hair grow back in. I felt my eyes water up as I watched her moving brusquely around the room, too graceful to be masculine, but more commanding than almost anyone I had ever known, including her husband.

And that was saying something.

“Are we going for feminine? Or sexy?” Kaylie asked, looking through the clothing rack I had rolled out with a few choices that would work for us busty gals. Becky had contributed a few things, as had Molly. They both had similar, curvy but petite figures, just like Dana. Although Dana also had exceptionally long legs, like Janet.
