“Yes,” I whispered, a rush moving through me as I saw it and felt it, warm and wet against my skin. “Holy God, that is hot.”

I’d never seen him come so quickly and easily, especially just from my hand. I hadn’t thought he would be anywhere near coming for many, many minutes.

I had done that to him. And that knowledge was enough to push me even closer.

He growled, turning over toward me, pushing his lips to mine in a hungry kiss. “Come for me, Cam,” he said. “You perfect thing.”

He moved again, propping himself up next to me and stroking my cock harder, resting his other palm over my balls and stroking.

He’d called me perfect. And even though I knew it wasn’t the truth, it sent me into the stratosphere. Even after everything, he still wanted me. Even though nothing about me was easily available or “no strings attached,” he still thought I was some sort of perfect.

A man who was free enough to have anyone in the world, to do whatever he wanted, had somehow landed on me.

“I am already there,” I said breathlessly, watching his intricately tattooed arm as he stroked me.

He turned to look me in the eyes, and all I saw in his expression was desire.

“Gonna come,” I uttered, and Luke shimmied down, sucking the tip of my cock into his mouth. “Oh God.”

It was all I needed. I couldn’t hold back anymore, and a wave of sensation crashed over me as I came over and over into his mouth. He swallowed, staying on my cock for a little while, making sure he had every last drop.

“Not fair,” I whispered. “You one-upped me.”

He chuckled as he pulled off of me, humming and pressing a bunch of tiny kisses to my chest. “I’m sure you’ll get me back at some point.”

“Damn right I will.”

After Luke cleaned up and we pulled on our clothes again, we finally delved into the picnic foods and looked out at the towns and the moon up above. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d felt such a comfortable silence with someone. I typically tried to fill the air with some sort of conversation, but right now, with Luke, there was no need.

“I love being here with you,” he finally said, his voice soft and calm.

And God. Those words did something very dangerous to my heart. I was filled with warmth, and I felt the gravitational pull toward Luke get even stronger, in real time.

“I do, too.”

As we finished, I lay back on the blanket and propped my hands behind my head.

“This is by far the best date I’ve ever been on,” I said.

He lay down next to me, grinning. “You said it’s the only real date you’ve been on.”

“That’s true, too,” I said. “But trust me, this is amazing.”

“I’m glad you’re enjoying it as much as I am.”

“Oh, I enjoyed myself very much, as you saw.”

“Tasted.”

“God, you’re so hot,” I said. “That’s unfair, too.”

“How do you think I feel?” he told me. “I get to look at your gorgeous face as you come.”

I scrunched up my nose. “Embarrassing.”

“Hell, no,” he said. “Hottest thing on Earth.”

He leaned down to kiss me, and somehow it felt even more intimate now, after we’d come. He lay back next to me, his body close to mine.

“I never thought I’d be here,” I said softly, looking up at a low, thin blanket of gauzy clouds near the horizon.

“Up on top of a hill with a weirdo like me?” Luke asked.

“Well, sure, that,” I said. “But I meant in life. Divorced. Father to three kids. You know I never even thought I’d have one kid?”

Luke twisted to face me, furrowing his brow. “What?”

I nodded once. “Yup. I was young, of course, when Rachel and I started to have kids. But up until then, I’d always pictured myself childless.”

“I can’t even picture that at all,” Luke said.

“I sure as hell can’t picture it now, either,” I told him. “My kids are my world. They became my world so much that I had to remember who I even was when I had time without them again.”

“You love them,” he said softly. “You’re a great father.”

“I love them so much it’s painful sometimes,” I said. “It makes things complicated sometimes, of course.”

“Like when Dayna wants mac ‘n’ cheese and the twins want pizza? Sounds complicated.”

I snorted. “I meant when it comes to you,” I said.

“Hey,” he said, “don’t even go there. I told you, I don’t want to make anything more complicated for you. I am very happy to keep things on the down low for the sake of your kids.”

“I know, I know,” I stressed. “You’re incredible about it. You’d never push for anything. But what if…”

My words suddenly trailed off, and I realized I was speaking about things I hadn’t even given enough thought to yet.
